When fall practice begins in September, Oregon State will welcome the 17 man 2021 recruiting class. Included in this year's class will be two highly acclaimed in-state freshman, Mason Guerra from Portland's Westview HS and Wilson Weber from Gresham's Sam Barlow HS.
Guerra is Prep Baseball Report's Player of the Year in Oregon and Weber isn't far behind. In the state rankings published by 3 premium websites, Guerra is the #1 prospect in Oregon with Weber weighing in at #2, #3 and #4. Guerra projects at 3B in college ball, Weber is a Catcher.
Both players dominated the Oregon Baseball statistics published by the Oregonian. Let's compare the numbers for the 2021 season.
Guerra led the state 6A in BA with a .592, Weber was at .532 Guerra had 29 hits, Weber had 33.
Guerra led the state in OBP with .701, Weber had a .603 %. Guerra scored 28 Runs, Weber had 29.
Guerra had 20 RBI, Weber had 30 RBI. Guerra stole 10 bases, Weber had 15.
Guerra hit 6 doubles and 6 HR. Weber hit 8 doubles, 3 triples and 9 HR.
Both players were unanimous All League choices - Guerra in the Metro, Weber in the Mt. Hood. Both players were first team All State Class 6A. Guerra is a polished infielder that can also play the outfield. Weber is blue collar catcher with a + arm.
