Nice discovery, Cake. A corner infielder that can play 1B or 3B with a fast bat and some developing power. Listed at 6-5, and 217 with another year to play at Concord's Clayton Valley Charter HS. He plays in the Sierra-Foothill league - the last guy we recruited from that league was the Minnesota Twin's Trevor Larnach. I'm told that worked out fairly well for the Beavs.
Jacob pitches some but I think he comes to OSU with the bat in his hands. Good potential with this guy, more physical growth, strength and improvement on his 100.2 mph exit velo. He was committed to Sacramento State and flipped to OSU. I believe 12 of the 15 members of our 2022 class are scholarship players, so I think with scollys at a premium, Jacob is a walk-on player coming in.
He's joining a very good OSU recruiting class.
