One strike for sending vandy home and lose on a wild pitch Glad I’m not a Stanford fan. That’s got to be painful for them.

Beck was cruising until he wasn't. That's the type of win that leads to CWS championships.

Beck looked unhittable too......I mean it was a foregone conclusion.....and then he walked a guy......and then the PH got an infield hit, throwing error moved tying run to 3rd, and so on, and so forth. That's baseball...and a team like Vandy, u can't give em extra chances.
The wild pitch was a fluke.....but again, runner on 3rd instead of 2nd.....ballgame.

Vaz (who walked and tied it) would've scored from 2nd on Bradfield's single to right in which Jones went 1st to 3rd anyway. It was the 2 out walk to Vaz that really started the implosion, especially when Beck was ahead 1-2 in the count. Then of course the perfectly placed seeing eye single to short by Jones continued the snowball effect. Somehow you just knew that Bradfield was gonna hack away at the first pitch he saw from Beck. And yes, the wild pitch was a fluke, and that's what will be remembered, but Stanford can take a little solace in knowing that the wild pitch will probably be forgotten way before the foul ball to Arkansas will.

Not by furd fans, it won't. But since it was not for the championship, the rest of the country will treat it as the answer to some future trivia question with several off color modifications.

Coach did Beck wrong, left kid out there too long after Saturday 109 pitches on Saturday. I could see 20-25 pitches on Wednesday, but 43? Heck, 30-35, you are still ok. But 43? I know that he did not pitch well on Wednesday, but All-Pac-12 Zach Grech who tied Oregon State up into knots was left on the bench. Throw Grech 20-25 pitches. Then, bring in Beck or a lefty to set up for Beck. There were a lot of things that could have been done, but they just were not done. In his 22 years at California and Stanford, David Esquer was won exactly two games in Omaha. I think that we saw his limitations again at Omaha. After watching Stanford implode, I wish that Arizona had beat Stanford.
