Interstate 5 extends from the Mexican to Canadian borders, 1380 miles through CA, OR and WA. Along that run, the longest distance between exits is.. 11.52 miles from exit 216 Brownsville Halsey to exit 228 Lebanon Corvallis. And those who have driven it repeatedly know - it's a straight line.

Back in the '60s, my dad used to have a gas station there at the Halsey-Brownsville exit (Phillips 66). He would drive every day from Albany - I went with him quite a bit in the summer and weekends. It's good to know that I was bored of the drive for good reason.
My cousin's husband caught a huge steelhead in the Calapooia River nearby the exit, so I'd always try to be awake when we passed it so I could ponder how to get there on my bicycle and catch one too.
Funny what memories are conjured up by a simple piece of trivia.

Closest is CA exit 391 Los Banos to exit 403 Gilroy at 11.29 miles. I've done my Google Earth due diligence.

One doesn’t want to miss the Corvallis/Lebanon off ramp heading south……. a long detour awaits. I’ve done it. Not bragging.

No, ag87 is right. 288-305 is the longest stretch. I think that 337-349 is longer, too. I stayed in Lost Hills at exit 278 on the way to Pepperdine in 2003 and have driven that way 10-15 times. There is a lot of nothing between Lost Hills and Los Banos. The 34 and 228 exits in Oregon are veritable metropolises compared to some of those San Joaquin Valley exits, too. North of exit 349, I think that you are 100% right, though. North of Mendota, the 216-228 stretch is the longest exit-less stretch on I-5. That is still 1,030+ miles of California, Oregon and Washington.

At least Halsey-Brownsville to Lebanon-Corvallis is probably in the top 10 for boring, especially when it's raining.

No, that's ok. We got to find out that ag87 is a Caltrans consultant. The next question is he a consultant in any other state, especially Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico or Utah? Plus, we got to all learn more about the 5.

I've done a small amount of rail work in Arizona and New Mexico.
