Vanderbilt won two of the previous six National Championships. I would love for it not to be three of the previous seven. I really don't see anyone beating NC State twice. Their offense is relentless, defense is solid and they have excellent pitching. Credit to Pitching Coach Clint Chrysler. He deserves a pay raise after what he’s done. Pitching and defense wins games in Omaha.

Sam Highfill gave up 11 runs in consecutive starts in mid-May. I will say that NC State appears to be peaking at the right time. Still, whoever wins the Stanford-Vanderbilt game is going to be bringing two of the best pitchers against NC State. NC State has the best defensive statistics at Omaha. It is always hard to beat a team that does not make mistakes.

NCS gave up on game one to save pitching staff for games two and three. The NCS coaches were brilliant in those last two games and they’ve been very good in Omaha so far. They are in the driver’s seat right now.

Tennessee loses to Texas and the Vols’ coaches totally embarrass themselves and their school (throwing “F” bombs at umpires will get you tossed).
Also, Tennessee hit 5 balls that would have been home runs in their home park, but at TD Ameritrade, they’re just long outs.

They seem to be a very old-timey in their approach and style, not really relying on analytics. I mean, if you had to be any team right now, you would want to be NC State. My point was that NC State is very beatable, especially with Stanford likely bringing Beck/Williams or Vandy likely bringing Rocker/Leiter this weekend. Since 2003, of the 68 teams to start 1-1, only nine (2003 Stanford, 2006 Oregon State, 2007 North Carolina, 2010 South Carolina, 2012 South Carolina, 2016 Arizona and Coastal Carolina, 2017 LSU and 2018 Oregon State) have wound up in the Championship Series. (13.24% of teams starting 1-1 have played in the Championship Series.) NC State likely winds up in the Championship Series, but I would not write Stanford or Vandy off just yet.

Agree Arkansas is easily outcoached. Pat Casey and his staff proved that in 2018, (although it did take the luck of a misplayed foul popup). There is one word for Arkansas’ coaches being “old-timey in their approach and style” – it’s “choke”. Yes, NC State is beatable just like anyone else. But, it’s going to take two great performances from Stanford or Vanderbilt to do it. I think that’s a tall order. NCS is relaxed and playing with confidence. Vanderbilt led the SEC with a team BA of 302 (tied with Ole Miss). NC State held them to 2 hits. It took 12 innings for Vanderbilt to eek out a win over Arizona, the same Arizona team Stanford crushed. Tomorrow’s game with Stanford and Vanderbilt should be fun to watch.

Don’t think Arkansas dropping a pop up is them getting “out coached”. Unless, their coach told them to drop it. Although, according to many people on this board, Dorman instructed our pitchers to bean guys or walk them. Or, our pitchers “choked”

There was no coaching involved.

Although, according to many people on this board, Dorman instructed our pitchers to bean guys or walk them. Or, our pitchers “choked” Take game three. First inning. If Arkansas puts the shift on for Larnach, Larnach grounds into a double play. Instead, the ball sneaks into right field. Grenier gets to third to put runners on the corners with one out. Rutschman singles to score Grenier. Malone moves Larnach and Rutschman over. And Gretler's hard hit ball that I still can't believe was called an error plates Larnach. Oregon State did nothing until Grenier came up again, when Grenier, Larnach and Rutschman teamed up for another run. Who knows, if Abel holds up without the two-run cushion. As it was, Abel looked close to breaking in the top of the third with the bases loaded and one out. A well-coached team does not walk off the field down 2-0. And a two-run cushion was all that Abel needed to pick up the dubya. As for Dorman, I like Claunch, but, from what I could see, he was not the best at setting up and framing pitches. A great catcher like Rutschman makes a good pitcher like Abel great, as well. A new catcher trained up by Mitchy Slick and Dorman will bring more consistency next season...........at least, that is my hope.
