BA ranks three OSU recruits in the 2021 class in their final College & Prep Top 500 MLB draft forecast. The recruits and their rankings are as follows:
#138 - Mid 5th Round RHP Jacob Kmatz # 180 - Mid 6th Round OF Mason Guerra # 276 - Late 9th Round OF Tyree Reed
*** I'll post additional rankings as time permits.

Wow, Reed has really slipped according to that. Considering his classroom skills, he's not signing for 9th round money. It'd be really nice if we could actually keep this entire class intact. The last report I saw on Reed said this, though they still have him rated #58 overall.
Didn't get seen much by scouts on the showcase circuit due to personal-reasons related to traveling during the pandemic. The profile was already very projection-based with a raw hit tool, those concerns were elevated once he starting struggling to make contact (relatively speaking for a top prospect) and ran high strikeout rans. It wasn't a chase/approach issue and mostly just seeing/recognizing spin as well as a lack of feel for the barrel and accuracy with it. It's a below average hit tool, but he has performed in the past including for the US development team in '19. The power may be above average raw, but he's not getting to it much. He has a somewhat steep VBA, and lifts balls when he gets to them in-time. He loses out on some of his in-game power due to the lack of extension he gets from his hands, in which the ball eats him up inside or on the hands. Ton of physicality, plus-plus runner. Elite athlete. He's a clear CF in the future and a plus defender at the spot. Lean body and lot's of mass to add on, lets his upper-half fly open early. Given how little scouts have seen him, he'll likely end up at school given a large asking price.

I've always thought his swing really benefits from some time in college, so hopefully that happens and he really blossoms into a 1st round talent. Edit, that same ranking had Kmatz, Tanner Smith and Jabin Trosky ranked from 500-1000, the only other guys in the 2021 class that were listed.

That is a great sign - not just the link to OSU , but the pride he shows in his scholastic achievements . Can only hope that he attends OSU , works on his current positive and negative ( at this time ), skills and goes on to substantial success in both Sports and his chosen career !

He would be a VERY welcome sight in Corvallis and bat in the line-up for the next 3 years.

He would be a VERY welcome sight in Corvallis and bat in the line-up for the next 3 years. The bat for sure but his defensive speed and arm too. Centerfield will be where doubles go to die for 3 years.
