Aces look tough to beat. Loaded.
Destiny Slocum played 8 minutes in garbage time (?), I had tuned out towards the end so didn't see it.
Sabrina I. was basically a non-factor despite dominating the ball when she was in the game. 15 minutes, 0-5 shooting and 1 point. Apparently she's coming off an injury, but I didn't see any signs of limping or slowness.

Did not see the game . But, in general - I just do not see smallish guards, that are not exceptionally fast or athletic, making it in the WNBA . The defenders are Uber athletic and can shut these types of players down if that is a Key part of the game plan. Look at Kelsey Plums stats in the LEAGUE, versus coming out of UW ... her game has totally changed from scorer to almost pure point guard .Fortunately, she also plays on a team that values that skill set !

I didn't see yesterday's game, but I watched the same two teams play on Tuesday.
The big take away for me is that Kelsey Plum seems to be finally finding her stride in the WNBA. Career high 32 in the first game, looked as unstoppable as in college. She wasn't on fire last night but still led them in scoring and assists, coming off the bench. She hasn't started any game this year, but is scoring more than either of the starting guards.
The other thing is New York has no front court w/ Howard out injured, they have absolutely no chance of matching up w/ Wilson/Cambage/Hamby.

Ms. Ionescu is not playing well of late. In her last four games she is 6-for-35 from the field, 4-19 from 3 and is averaging 4.25 points per game.

The thread title was clearly marked "OT" for Off Topic and WNBA, so feel free to bypass if you don't like it. I only knew DS played because I looked at the box score after.

Ms. Ionescu is not playing well of late. In her last four games she is 6-for-35 from the field, 4-19 from 3 and is averaging 4.25 points per game. She's having ankle issues again, labeled tendinitis this year, not sure if it's the same one she injured last year. I stand by my theory that she will be injury prone. She maxes out everything she can for her size and athleticism, but the body is going to break down when you are regularly having to push it to compete against taller and faster players. Unless she gains enough experience to know when to pull back, perhaps as a 3 pt specialist, going 110% at all times and trying to carry the team could result in a short career for her. Was a little surprised to see her in a State Farm commercial when she hasn't accomplished anything in the WNBA yet.

My takeaway is, admittedly based upon a very small sample size but reinforced by my very high basketball IQ... SI lacks in quickness and is not a great pure shooter. This leads her to try to be "crafty" on Offense, think floaters in the lane, fade-aways, etc. With the superior skill level of the WNBA she's not going to be nearly as dominant as she was in college. She does have a good all-around game and decent size for a guard. I expect she'll have a long, successful pro career if she can stay healthy.

Well I hope she's got a good insurance policy.

Just wait when every recruited player at the hole is guaranteed $50k for every Nike commercial. You know that is where it is headed.

Cool, another thread that is turning into obsessing about Ionescu. Haven't had enough of those lately.

Cool, another thread that is turning into obsessing about Ionescu. Haven't had enough of those lately. If the thread is at least partly about the New York Liberty, it makes sense she's mentioned. Wouldn't you say? Refresh my memory, when was the last thread obsessing about her? Three months ago?
