Heck, I created this thread not to ask the question about how good TVO would be. I really just needed some title to use as an excuse to post links to those video highlights of TVO that I made, since I enjoy watching them so much, myself. I thought others might enjoy them, too. This board had been pretty quiet lately. I guess I stirred the pot some.

And, no disrespect to those who played with Sydney and what they accomplished, she's going to be surrounded by better players than Syd was. Sydney was indeed the key to the Beavs' three consecutive PAC-12 regular seasons titles during her final three seasons in Corvallis. However, she did have some help in 2015-2016 PAC-12 Player of the Year Jamie Weisner, 6'6" shotblocker Ruth Hamblin, the 6'5" future first round WNBA draft pick Marie Gulich, and two-time All-PAC-12 player and the program's all-time leading rebounder Mikayla Pivec. All four of Sydney's teammates were drafted #25 or better in their respective WNBA drafts. If Talia ends up having four or more teammates that are drafted #25 or better during the next four WNBA drafts, then I would hope that the Beavs can produce at least one PAC-12 regular season title during Talia's time in Corvallis. I should perhaps have qualified that by saying better 'on paper.' As good as those players turned out to be, none were 5 star recruits until Katie (#39) and Mik (#20) came along. Talia will be surrounded by Taylor (#43), Kennedy (#20), Greta (don't remember and too lazy to look it up), Taya (#26), Timea (#4), and Raegan (#11). How most of those will do remains to be seen, of course, but they were rated as better talent in high school.

And, yet, Goforth's father had a few things to say about the fans ]all the whining] when she announced her transfer. Some may read them and laugh. But, remember, these are teenagers and many have yet to develop the thick skin necessary to laugh at fairweather fans. At that point she was already an Arkansas Razorback so “no harm, no foul”. College is a time of learning and part of that is learning how to take it criticism with a grain of salt and for what it’s worth.

This becomes a real boring forum if the answer to all questions are. "They'll be as good as they'll be". If we can't discuss what we see or what we think could happen, what are we even doing here? Agreed. But I felt the need to alert some posters to the damage they do when speculation turns to expectation.

jdogge: So your job is to "alert some posters to the damage they do when speculation turns to expectation."
That is quite a public service you perform. I've never realized what a disaster that could be - speculation turning into expectation. Especially on a basketball forum where speculation and expectation are the heart and soul of the entire enterprise. Thanks for the heads up. GO BEAVS!!

Reality sets in on about the fifth conference game in the season for everyone. About every site with a successful power 5 program is declaring a final four visit within four years based on their recruiting and freshmen they have now. Besides if it took just one player to get there it would be easy. I still believe it sort of takes the perfect storm to get there along with talent and some luck.

Come November y'all wil have turned into Lebron, Magic, and Pete Maravich rolled up into an 18 year-old girl. She'll be as good as she'll be. As this kind of thread does is put unnecessary pressure on her to comply with your expectations. It will not end well. Y'all will freak. This happened a bunch of years ago when the football team started 6-0. By week seven y'all had them going to the NC Game. Then they lost -- what -- six in a row? Several of you were committing hari kari and more than a few of you were isolated as psychiatric emergencies. Let the girl be. In all of the years this board and the predecessor Pure Orange board has existed I don’t recall a single instance of a WBB player or family objecting to a post. Actually, it happens fairly regularly on this very board.

Actually, it happens fairly regularly on this very board. A player? Unsure, but I know a few family members post here.

She’s moving into the dorms wearing a Metallica “ride the lightning” T-shirt. Give her player of the year right now.
