JMHO, but 2 more games to an already grueling schedule doesn't make sense. I've seen them talk about how tired they are at the end of the conference schedule, so could you see them playing ASU and UA and the WMA/MMA the last two games?

I rather see them go to a full round robin. I don't like the schedule imbalance giving teams advantages because of road/home splits and who misses whom.

So I missed an 'M' in WMA -- WMMA. Women's Mixed Martial Arts. There actually is a WMA, but I think it's Western Martial Arts. It's just my personal opinion the Az schools play too rough and are allowed to continue with it - even SR got "censured" by the Pac-12 for complaining about it recently.

Shocking news - this format matches the men's program. Glad for the consistency. I suspect they will actually attempt the 10 year schedule like they did for the men... one can only hope.
Anyway, the other thing that is nice is the tourney day of rest. GO BEAVS!

Does this mean 2 fewer pre-conference games allowed?

Does this mean 2 fewer pre-conference games allowed? Good question. I think that you are limited in the number of pre conference games but I have no idea about conference games.

Maybe they finally toned it down, but for years USC was just as over the top w/ physicality as ASU. UCLA plays a physical brand of basketball. It's not just the Arizona schools. This last season it certainly looks like WSU is heading that direction. Stanford aren't exactly weanies. Not sure if any school in the Pac plays a "soft" brand of basketball. I've seen Stanford fans complain about Colorado being too physical. Beavs might be the least physical team in the conference.

Pretty sure the NCAA limits how many games teams can play in a season (there are exemptions for early season tourneys). If you add 2 more conference games, that will mean 2 less OOC games can be scheduled.

The season will not be extended by two games. Two conference games will replace two nonleague games. It will make the Pac-12 regular season fairer, because instead of playing one game against four conference opponents, you will have only two that you play once. Who you skipped could be very advantageous, or hurt you. This way is more equitable.

Plus, I'd much rather go to Gill to see us play the Arizona schools than two hopelessly overmatched opponents like Pacific or UC Irvine.
