After winning 15-3 yesterday, LSJU and Alex Williams shut down Texas Tech today, 9-0. Williams threw a CG, 2-hit shutout against the Red Raiders. The Big-12 powerhouse was outscored 24-3 in the lop-sided Super Regional.
The Cardinal now await the PAC-12's Arizona Wildcats to join them in Omaha. Stanford took the Conference series against Arizona, 2-1.

This conference will be tough going forward. Stanford and Arizona are young...ASU is a sleeping giant. This conference was solid this year,with Arizona and Stanford peaking it appears.

Once the rules were standardized, with rules limiting the number of games, universal starting time for the season, etc., their built-in advantages disappeared. Same with SC. Two of the most-underperforming programs in the country over the past 20 years.

Watching Gilbert with Tennessee with 60 RBI's and Susac being PAC 12 frosh of the year,I have to think what could have been. Both were commits...oh well

Even with those 2… discount Mick Abel…. and we are likely in Omaha. Is what it is. While AZ, Stanford, ucla and ucks had good years…. im my mind this conference is still there for Beavs. Mitch has work to do but no one is unbeatable. |
