Sport. Grade. Trend (^upward, v downward, = status quo) based on my highly subjective, proprietary grading methodology. Football | C ^ | Soccer - M | B ^ | Soccer - W | D- v | Volleyball | D = | XC | B ^ | Basketball - M | A ^ | Basketball - W | B = | Wrestling | C ^ | Gymnastics | C = | Golf - M | B ^ | Golf - W | Incomplete (NCAA regional cancelled) | Rowing - M | B = | Rowing - W | C = | T & F - W | D ^ | Baseball | C+ ^ | Softball | D = |
I make no claim for these being definitive.

Men's soccer had the national player of the year. Women's cross country finished 16th in the country, men's golf 23rd. I'd say they merit an A grade.

There are 349 DI women's cross country teams. We defeated 332 of them. We finished in the 95th percentile. That's an A, by anyone's reasonable metric.
There are 292 DI men's golf teams. We defeated 269 of them. We finished in the 92nd percentile. That's an A, by anyone's reasonable metric.
Men's soccer, Ok.
Not sure how a 2-5 football team rates almost the same grade as a baseball team that finished 13 games over .500, had a winning conference record, advanced to a regional final on the road, and was one of the last 21 teams alive in the country despite playing the final six weeks of the season without its best position player.
But as you said, other's mileage may vary. I guess I'm one of the others.

If you don't agree with me that 95% and 92% are As, there's not much point to it.

I make no claim for these being definitive. So a 2.20 GPA. That's not even good enough for NCAA eligibility out of high school, unless you redshirt.

If we're just measuring by postseason and not considering anything about the program's expectations/capabilities, I'd give XC, Baseball, and MBB & WBB all As, as they all were in the final 32 or better, which is in the 90th percentile or better (maybe slightly under for baseball).
