Army will be the hardest to replace. Mully, there like a rock for years. Jones, some great outfield play. Casey was a really good outfielder. Then what can we say about Kevin A. One of the greatest performances in College World Series History. A Great Beaver!
As a huge fan, all I can says is Damn Thanks all! May your dreams come true!

I wonder if Burns and Verburg will be back for their senior season other possible Senior leadership roles: McMahan, Claunch, Ober, Sebby. pure speculation: Claunch - drafted? McMahan - other pastures, looking for playing time?

McMahan - other pastures, looking for playing time? Macmahan needs to get his confidence back. I would hope he can do that and remain at OSU. We are in need of outfielders so he's got the inside track to be a starter next season if he can earn it.

I am likely wrong but I doubt Ober gets drafted. Someone might sign him and give him a chance. Claunch questionable. Really up in the air is Kevin A.
What we really need is an All American SS. Likely a new Catcher and a lights out Friday Night Starter. Then 3 more real hitters.
Damn is this easy. LOL!

Neither OSU backup Catcher saw much field this past season - that's a potential solution. Gavin Logan & Cole Hamilton each had 22 AB's, and both had a .318 BA. Combined they threw out 5 out of 7 stolen base attempts. p.s. Logan is listed as a Bend Elk this summer.

Catcher should be fine. Dukart, Derneddie or Frohmke are possibles at SS, 2B We have a couple of 1B
I like that at the end of the year the players who earned regular slots came from the unknowns. Boyd, Melton, Forrester, Derneddie, Meckler, Fuchs. Tells me that PT is earned not given, and coaches keep looking, never give up on a player.

Derneddie turned two better than Ober. I wonder if he has the range and arm for SS. Dukart sure has the arm. Boyd at 3rd might be interesting. Outfield? Melton Center. Left ?, Right?
Damn I have to wait for another whole year. Planning on catching the Bend Elks later this summer.
Go Beav's

Kyler is definitely on the outside looking in. His lack of hitting and spotty play defensively pushed him out of the lineup. All three guys that started in the OF in the regional will be back next year, plus a healthy Melton will be a starter. I think Kyler will see the writing on the wall and either transfer to smaller program or hang up the cleats.

Likely a new Catcher and a lights out Friday Night Starter. Then 3 more real hitters. Damn is this easy. LOL! Ober could go in the final 10 rounds or sign a FA deal like McGarry did last year. Ober’s best tool is his power so he’ll get a shot somewhere if he wants to move on. If he wants to come back, I expect he’s going to have to earn a roster spot. He needs to work on plate discipline. It was painfully obvious that he couldn’t hit anything off-speed which is why his average was stuck in the high .200s. Could he back next year as a 1B/2B/DH? Sure. Do I think he’ll be back? No. I expect Claunch to be drafted in the back half and sign. Catching prospects are hard to come by, and while he’s got some things to work on, the tools are there. If he does come back, he’ll have to compete with two talent prospects in Tanner Smith and Wilson Weber, who both have the ability to start immediately. Kevin Abel is a lock to be drafted in the top 5 rounds. His command was an issue this year, but that doesn’t scare off scouts. His FB velocity will keep him out of the first and most likely second round, but he might have the best off speed stuff of any pitcher in the draft. I’m not sure people realize how special his stuff is. Certainly the best I’ve ever seen at OSU. Stuff doesn’t always equal results though as we’ve learned.

He might fill up short pretty well. Dukart on third. Dernedde on second. Boyd, Melton, Meckler, Fuchs, McDowell are all capable in the outfield.

Hjerpe is the leader in the clubhouse to take over that role. His career arc is similar to Luke Heimlich’s in that they were both bullpen guys early who become starters in their 2nd year. Hjerpe also has similar stuff and style to Heimlich. The question will be whether or not he can refine his command like Luke did and turn himself into an All-American Friday night guy. Other candidates for Friday are Pfennigs and Frisch. Coincidently, both guys are draft eligible this year. But I think both will be back as they still have a year of leverage (two in Frisch’s case) and can drastically improve their stock with strong 2021 campaigns. My guess is Pfennigs pitches on Saturdays next year and Frisch goes on Sundays. But the reverse is equally as likely. If all three guys take the natural leap that we’ve seen over the last decade that comes with a couple years of experience, we might very well have the best starting rotation in the country or in the very least the Pac-12.

Don't forget Mr Forrester. He and Melton could be a monster duo that would drive in the mashers in front. Those 2 with Boyd, Dernedde, Gretler and Dukart could make a formidible lineup.

Tanner Smith (playing for the Knights this summer) is a highly touted catcher that will also be in the mix.
