Anyone familiar with DB's pitching depth? They have two quality starters, after that it's a crapshoot I think.

As much as we've struggled in the clutch of late, it was really cathartic go blow-for-blow with a really good team on their home turf in a tight game. So much could have gone wrong and just didn't - well beyond what shows up in the stats for clutch plays, we had things like Claunch with multiple extremely difficult picks that would have allowed the go-ahead run that just didn't happen. For a team that looked like they were allergic to pressure at times this season, they were totally nails in the biggest game of the season.

and since TCU didn't load the bases in the 9th, I guess it was a fairly comfy win!

Masterful handling of the pitching staff for a game 3. How is it possible that an incompetent head coach and clueless pitching coach have guided this team to the final 32 in the country, and into a regional final?
Burns was great, got him out of there at the right time. In three years he's rarely shown he can go more than two innings without trouble. Yes, he was dealing, but the change to Salgado's totally different style was perfect. And they held Salgado to just the right place. He's not a middle-innings guy.
Burns really should have been allowed to pitch summer ball after the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but Yeskie always pretty much shut everyone down. Pretty stupid move and it stunted the progress of pitchers (Burns, Chamberlain, Gambrell, Eisert, Pfennigs, Mundt, Shelton, Flemer) who some years had very low innings (which was most everybody outside of NY's top 6 favorites) and should have played summer ball.
I've heard this will be different under Dorman, that pitchers will play summer ball, with a proscribed innings limit, of course. That's good. Young pitchers develop by pitching, not sitting the summers out.
Verburg, Burns and Casey have been buried or totally ineffective the last month or so. Ober got bumped from his year-long last week position. Dernedde sat on the bench all year. They could have packed it in. Instead they remained fully invested and each helped us win today. Reads to me the players have far more trust in their coaches than some in the fan base.

Okay, who called that they wanted to play TCU in game 3 to send them packing in their own park. Sweet ! I did! Always better to knock out the host as early as possible.

I’ve never called him incompetent nor have my fellow Beaver posters on this forum.....it’s easy for you to make this statement after a gutty win. Burns should have been left in to start the 8th IMHO.....they weren’t even touching him. We were very fortunate to get out of the 8th unscathed (Casey bailed us out with that catch). MC made some great calls to get a run in the 9th and we held a lead to get a win. I’m hoping that we can do the same thing again in an hour against DB .....hopefully not as much drama as we just witnessed

I've felt the same way all year. Not just today.
