TCU head Coach Jim Schlossnagle is a succesful D-1 coach and according to his peers, a good one. His Horned Frogs are hosting an NCAA Regional in Ft. Worth this weekend and he should be totally focused on moving on and hosting a Super Regional . . .but is he?
He is being prominantly mentioned as a top tier candidate for the LSU job. If that isn't a big enough distraction, he is considered by some baseball insiders to be the top target in Texas A&M's coaching search. Schlossnagle is known to covet an SEC job and with two great opportunities within reach, you wonder - will that be ba distraction? Interviews might start as soon as a candidate's team has completed the season. Oregon State might give old Jim the opportunity to begin interviewing as early as next Tuesday. Go Beavs.
As a sidenote, there are 7 or 8 Head Coaching jobs open already with more sure to come. I am seeing some interesting names being associated with these openings, including some top notch Assistant Coaches ready to move up the career ladder. I have yet to see the name Yeskie appear anywhere.

I have yet to see the name Yeskie appear anywhere. So you’re saying that there’s still a chance? LOL.

I am hoping that his head and his players' heads are all elsewhere during the Fort Worth Regional. As for Yeskie, let's see how Arizona does this year. If the Wildcats advance to Omaha, I expect a lot of other schools to come calling. Arizona does not have the history that a lot of other schools do and cannot throw around the money that some of the schools can, especially in the Southeast.

ARZ isn't exactly a pitching juggernaut this season though. Their Friday guy has a good record with a crappy ERA.....all I'm saying is not sure how much accolades will be thrown Yeskies way.

As for shlossenfeffer being distracted.......I dunno but we need every lil edge we can get. And then we still need everything to go perfectly, with a bit of luck to go our way, to get out of this regional

OSU won the Northern Division championship in 1994, the year before Pat Casey became coach. It had three draft choices on that team, including a first-round choice. The 1993 OSU Beavers also had a first-round draft choice. Two players from the 1993/1994 teams had decent MLB careers and five were drafted.
OSU had at least two players drafted in 1977, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1991, 1993 and 1994. It was an underfunded program when Casey took over but it was far, far from a bad program.

Jack Riley also coached 3 teams that made the NCAA Regionals. In 1983, 1985, and 1986 Oregon St reached the tournament. They weren't taking 64 teams in the 1980's college baseball.

Heard bellotti might be interested in both Texas a/m and lsu. He's too busy playing golf at Pronghorn with New-weasel every day.......and collecting PERS checks.

To be fair, small PERS checks. Not quite $50k per month, that's chump change for Sabin and Harbaugh.

Lotta talk about TCU.....and shlossenheffer. Think Beavs oughta worry about DBU first...... LOL You can't become a successful D1 head coach like Schlossnagle by worrying about the next step. Gotta stay focused on what's in front of you. So I suspect TCU, the Beavs, and Schlossnagle are only concerned with the first game.
