There has been a lot of talk lately about the lineup used in game three against Stanford. If I had to venture a Mitch lineup for game one I think it would look alike this with a lefty pitcher.
Meckler- Left field Ober - 2nd Forrester- 1b Claunch - Catcher Armstrong - SS Dukart - 3b Casey - Center Field Boyd - Right Field Gretler - DH
If I were the coach w/o any scouting: Meckler - Left Field Armstrong - SS Boyd - Right field Claunch - Catching Forrester - 1b Dernedde - 2nd Gretler - 3b Dukart - Dh McMahan - Center Field
What are your thoughts?

Why are you suggesting LHP? Dallas Baptist top guys are RHP...
Here's my guess->
Meckler LF Ober 2B Claunch C Dukart 3B Forrester 1B Armstrong SS Fuch DH Boyd RF Casey CF (although I would pick McDowell myself)

I look for Wiff to be in the lineup not matter what. It could happen he runs into a ball.

The team is lacking an abundant amount of good batters from the left side. Probably not much I would change.

Without knowing the ins and outs of the clubhouse, it’s hard to guess who will get the start. But assuming everyone is healthy, I think…
Meckler LF Armstrong SS Dukart 3B Claunch C Forrester DH Ober 2B Boyd RF Gretler 1B McMahon CF
It’s nice to know that we have Fuchs and Froemke ready to hit, too. By the way, I don’t expect Dallas Baptist to have stellar pitching, so I think Ober might be a good choice at 2nd. He’s pretty good with the glove and when his bat is going, he can give us a lift.

Their ace looks pretty good, not sure if we'll get him or not? But their #2 is coming back from injury and pretty damn good too (although limited action in season)
Dominic Hamel, 3.71 ERA, 123K in 80 IP with just 58 H and 26 BB Luke Eldred, 1.86 ERA, 31K in 29 IP with just 14 H and 10 BB

It is hard to believe that Joe will be in the lineup when he 4-44 (0.091) in his last 44 AB's and Ober is 9-49 (0.184) in his last 49 AB's. I was wondering why they weren't in the lineup as much lately. I didn't really dive into their stats until now.

The last half of the season saw a definite decline in a lot of numbers, especially the power - only a few players managed to be hitting better on May 29th than they were on March 29th.

We have too many guys in our lineup who disappear against good pitching, and the back half of the schedule was loaded with better pitching than we saw first half.
I'm not the coach obviously, but I'd like to see small ball to move guys over, and in.....more sacs, and safety squeeze type stuff.....imo, they should be working hard on bunting leading up to the postseason.
If we can rely on our pitching, defense, and manufacturing runs, we might have a shot to go deep in postseason.....if we get into high scoring affairs, I don't like our chances....gonna have to be stingey.

The Beavers actually led the conference in sac bunts. Only 2 teams close to that number. There were also many, many whiffs or takes on sac bunt situations, and by practice descriptions, the Beavers spend one heck of a lot of time on bunting practice.

I'm not surprised they led the conf with the holes we have in our lineup and LOB They need to spend more time! For the reasons you said. Gotta execute

Luke Eldred has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery. His 83 pitches in the Missouri Valley Tournament is the first time that Eldred has thrown more than 60 pitches in a game this year. Eldred has taken over Dallas Baptist's #3 spot. Kouba is on the most rest of the three, followed by Eldred and finally Hamel. I think the question is Hamel or Kouba on Friday. I doubt that Eldred goes on a short week after throwing 83 pitches. Hamel is good. Among teams in the Tournament, most strikeouts: 1. Andrew Abbott (Virginia) 136 (89 IP)
2. Jack Leiter (Vanderbilt) 135 (83 IP)
3. Kumar Rocker (Vanderbilt) 135 (91.1 IP)
4. Dominic Hamel (Dallas Baptist) 123 (80 IP)
Of pitchers, who have thrown at least 70 innings, Hamel is second in K/9 in the Tournament to Leiter. Hamel is rated as the 19th best RHP in Division 1 by MLB.com, a potential third rounder. He has a 96 mph fastball with a high-spin-rate slider and curveball.
