Nolan, on the other hand, seems to 'bounce' pretty quickly re: his "predicted standings" Right now (Wednesday evening) he has OSU finishing 18-12 in the PAC, and Stanford finishing 15-12....in other words, Beavs sweep Stanford on the road. Huh? Would love that, but is it realistic? He also has Beavs finishing with an RPI of 17. Stanford's win 8-5 win over Oregon State in 2019 is the Cardinal's only win at Sunken Diamond against Oregon State since 2009. Sunken Diamond is the Beavers' second home. Oregon State has not lost a series at Sunken Diamond since 2003. I would say that it is realistic, considering history. Not so “realistic”

Yeah, it was a blowout. Oregon State didn't even belong on the same field. My bad?

I think the Beavs are going to have a tough time getting one win at Sunken Diamond....Abel was as good as he’s been this year and we still came up short. But that being said......we need the Abel we saw tonight to have any chance at getting out of a regional

And Florida Atlantic beats Charlotte 9-8. Unless there are just a stupid amount of upsets from here on out, that effectively eliminates Charlotte from serving as a host site in the NCAA Tournament. Duke beat Miami, which puts the Hurricanes within striking distance of Oregon State today. Florida might be passable with an Alabama win today. It is 0-0 in the sixth right now. The Beavers would need their opponents to come through and the Gators' opponents to lose, though. Duke beat Miami today. If Oregon State beats Stanford, the Beavers likely pass the Hurricanes. Duke punches a spot into the ACC Semifinals, the first team to do so. Louisville jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Georgia Tech has clawed back to tie the game at six in the eighth. The winner of that game punches the second spot into the ACC Semifinals. With a win, Oregon State likely jumps Connecticut and Miami and gets near Florida. At that point, it will come down to what opponents do. The Beavers need to get to about 17th in RPI, in order to get into the #1-seed discussion. Florida beat Alabama to punch a ticket to the SEC Semifinal. Alabama plays Tennessee for the right to play Florida in the semifinal. Georgia Tech won 9-8 over Louisville to punch its ticket into the ACC Semifinal. Georgia Tech will play NC State in the Semifinal. The Notre Dame-Virginia winner will play Duke in the other Semifinal. To begin the day, the consensus was that seven teams were in line for a National Seed in the 9-16 range: East Carolina, Florida, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi, Oregon, Stanford and TCU.
Southern Miss defeated Louisiana Tech 4-1. Southern Miss finished third in Conference USA but may have played their way into a host spot in the Conference USA Tournament.
East Carolina and TCU did not play. The other four teams won.
The other two teams up for the final #1-seed are Gonzaga and Old Dominion. Both won.
Oklahoma State is making a late push to be a travelling #1-seed. They will continue the quest against West Virginia.
The teams in the 19-25 range are very tightly packed. The Beavers can pass the four teams in front of them with a win and are unlikely to fall with a loss. Gonzaga can pass Southern Miss with a win and would likely stay ahead of Oregon State.
With two wins, Oregon State has the potential to pass Florida and South Carolina into the 17-18 range, which still might put the Beavers into the discussion for a #1-seed. But Oregon State would likely need some games in other conferences turn out the correct way.

But that being said......we need the Abel we saw tonight to have any chance at getting out of a regional Abel was pretty mediocre in 2018 until he started pitching to contact on Memorial Day Weekend. He then was lights out. Let's hope that history repeats itself. Memorial Day Weekend 2013, the Beavers started out losing game one by a run before rebounding to win the final two games to win the series and propel themselves on a College World Series run. Since 2000, 2013 and 2021 are the only two years that Oregon State started Memorial Day Weekend off with a one-run loss.

Oregon State is currently 22nd in RPI.
Oregon State and UCLA are close to one another in RPI.
Four games will decide, who finishes ahead:
Cal State Bakersfield @ UC Santa Barbara Cal State Fullerton @ UC Irvine Hawai'i @ Cal Poly Santa Clara @ San Francisco
Teams to root for as between Oregon State and UCLA:
Cal State Bakersfield UC Irvine Hawai'i Santa Clara
A Santa Clara win puts Oregon State ahead of UCLA alone.

Santa Clara and UC Irvine won, Hawaii and Cal State Bakersfield lost. We are now at 20. If... Gonzaga does not host, my gut tells me we are headed to Ole Miss or Notre Dame as the two seed.

and UCLA is still at #20. What the hay? I thought that if Santa Clara beat USF, we passed UCLA? It's all a mystery to me.

You'd think 21 would still get us in somewhere. Notre dame might be okay?

and UCLA is still at #20. What the hay? I thought that if Santa Clara beat USF, we passed UCLA? It's all a mystery to me. UCLA started out ahead. A Santa Clara win over USF was enough for Oregon State to pass UCLA by itself. UCLA needed a majority of the other results to turn out the correct way to overcome Oregon State's lead. UC Irvine won, but Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara also both won. Even though the most important result turned out the correct way for Oregon State, the majority of the other results did not. That left Oregon State .0001 behind UCLA in RPI. Very close. Just not quite there. RPI says two-seed. Arizona State finished tied with Oregon state for fifth in the Pac-12 and won the series. But it was in Phoenix. Oregon State played a more difficult nonconference slate and were 10 games over .500 in nonconference play, same as Arizona state.
