And his caddy (brother) former Beaver golfer Tim. Anyone know whether Phil has ever played Trysting Tree? Yes, I watched him when I was in college. There was a reason that they put up the tall nets next to a couple of the tee boxes. On 9, Phil just hit it up the first fairway and could reach what was then a par 5 in two with a short iron. He also played up the old 16th fairway from the 15th tee box. They installed the nets to keep the players from doing that. That was the 1992 Pac 10 Championship. Phil's ASU team lost to Stanford with Notah Begay and Casey Martin. |

The 1992 Pac-10 Individual Champion was Stanford's Christian Cévaër, from Nouméa, New Caledonia, a French overseas territory. A fun fact about 1992 was that Arizona, which finished fourth at Trysting Tree, wound up winning the National Championship over Arizona State by seven strokes. Phil Mickelson won the Individual National Championship, which he also won in 1989 and 1990 (1990 as part of the NCAA Champion Arizona State team). |

There have been some loaded women's golf teams at TT too. Arizona's women's team won the Pac-10 title there and had Lorena Ochoa and Natalie Gulbis. Wendy Ward played for ASU, she could really hit it.
I think Kevin Na won for Stanford the last time it was here. Craig Stadler's kid played for USC, he's had some success on the tour too.
