The observation that the 2021 Beavs have a fair amount of role-player talent, and yet are sparse in high level 'elite' talent, rings true.
For instance, how many current draft-eligible 2021 Beavs will be chosen in the first 4 rounds of the 2021 MLB draft in June?? (one? two?)
For context, here is the year-by-year numbers of Beavers drafted by MLB in the first FOUR rounds, since their initial 2005 Omaha appearance:
2020 - 1
2019 - 3
2018 - 3
2017 - 3
2016 - 1
2015 - 2
2014 - 3
2013 - 0
2012 - 0
2011 - 1
2010 - 0
2009 - 0
2008 - 0
2007 - 3
2006 - 2
2005 - 1
As can be seen, between 2008 and 2013, exactly ONE Beaver was drafted in the first 4 rounds. Those, of course were all Pat Casey years. During those 6 years the OSU baseball team 'topped-out' at one CWS, one Super Regional, three Regionals, and one didn't make the tournament.
I'm thinking that 2021 will be one of those years when the team achieves a Regional (and that might be about it)....and 1 or 2 players will be drafted in Rounds 1-4. In other words, a year much like the majority of the years in the 2008 - 2013 period.
It surely ain't the end of the world. Recruiting is good. Players like Forrester, Boyd, etc. may someday be high MLB draft picks. Enjoy the flow (because Baseball is inherently good). Go Beavs!

Recruiting is good. Development is the question mark So, they were supposed to develop players with one full year of games?

You must be a hit at parties. To clarify, I'm talking about the prospective recruiting taking an uptick.....We don't have enough data/time to make a judgement on player development so that is a question that remains to be answered.
