Two outs agin and we keep walking em.....ridiculous I say just ridiculous ....now 10 walks wow. We just can’t bring Verburg into that type of situation.....saw it once before and now twice

Well he wasn't throwing strikes, not performing so why would you leave him in there? He was throwing strikes before that inning. He was under 70 pitches and 12 of his 18 pitches in a 1-2-3 4th inning were strikes. You do not have anyone warming up in that situation, nor should you. If he ever expects to progress in pro ball, that type of blowup can't happen anywhere near as consistently as it has this year. I don't like ripping on college athletes but OTOH, this ain't intramurals, brother. I can do math and read stats. You have an inconsistent player that has thrown an average of 5 innings all season and has a 3-3 record doing so, why wouldn't you be thinking of warming up another pitcher after 4 innings? I call it as I see it this one is on the one being paid a salary. |

That was game.....crappola. Arizona definitely has a great offensive lineup.....gets hits with two outs pretty consistently

I would say something is wrong with what should be stellar pitching. These guys had stellar era's until 3 weeks ago, and not anymore. |

All you risk is getting him warm and then sitting him back down. There's a certain expectation of competency if you're a Division I pitcher, especially an All-American. Throwing strikes is one of those expectations. Call them as you see them all you want, but you're wrong. I'll give Washburn the benefit of the doubt in seventh He had the guy struck out on a 2-2 pitch and the ump choked the check-swing call. Verberg is toast, this year's Sam Twedt. No point in using him any more. Our upperclassmen are killing us. Canham should have cleaned house after last year. |
