Ice is gone, looking at probably 300K-750K bonus. nothing left to prove here and will not improve his draft stock by coming back. Morrison also gone, had a tough year but his skill set has not diminished. still seen as a guy who can stay in the middle of the diamond. Thompson and Pomoroy will be later round picks, my guess is that Jake returns and John signs. we will need someone with Jake's stuff at the front of our rotation, not saying he will be that guy. no knock on Brice or Luke but their stuff right now projects to a #3 starter in the Pac 12 if you plan on going to Omaha.

I wonder about KJ as a corner outfield next year. I think that will be his position at the next level. he is not a first baseman and the catcher experiment was a disaster.

Trying to guess who will be the rotation at the start, midway and end of a season is like trying to pick lottery numbers... and about as successful. Injuries not withstanding (and pitchers are prone to breaking due to the stresses on the elbow and shoulder) this is such a mental part of the game. Some kids have all the tools and none of the brain cells, others have limited skills but have ice water running through their veins. Our NC teams were short on talent and long on toughness (relatively speaking). I am guessing from observation that PC and NY recruit as many strong arms as possible then just throw them to the batters and see who sticks. It is the same thing that MLB and MiLB have been doing for 100 years. Load up on pitchers and see who can get guys out. Pitchers may be your most important position, but they are also the most disposable and least reliable. Now to prove myself wrong Fehmel, Heimlich, Verburg/Martinek, and some other guy who will come out of nowhere. Rasmussen will be the 2017 CWS MVP with two wins, starting the season late. Rasmussen doesn't play at all in 2017. LRS requires a 15 month recovery period. April 2016 + 15 months is June 2017. I hope he stays another year to improve his draft stock [LRS recoverees take a big hit at draft time].

Parker Berberet is back up to Double A if I am not mistaken. Definitely a quality catcher.

One other note on Morrison. In 2015, he breaks a bone in his hand and finishes the game. He then comes back to help the team down the stretch even though he is not allowed to swing because the hand is not healed. He takes the summer off from the Cape Cod League when Coach Casey asks him to take it off. He then plays this year with personal problems (I believe the posts on a different thread) and is out there every day. Definitely a kid all about himself--total bull s%#t.

Who do you think Logan Ice is talking about in this quote after the lost to the Pilots on May 10th? "Ultimately it comes down to each person being their own leader," Ice said. "If you can't get yourself to tick, maybe it's not the right sport for you. But sometimes you're not going to have your best stuff. Sometimes you're not going to swing the bat the way you want to swing it. But to just flat out just surrender, give up, not compete, it's something we got to figure out."

The box score tells me Morrison went 2-4 with a walk that day...Would be odd to call him out on a day when Ice went hitless vs UP.

I knew there was someone I was missing. Susac was another "don't run on him" catcher. Man we have been blessed to watch some great kids behind the plate.

Well, if you accept that the top 64 teams are still playing, then I guess we would be top 65!! JK
