Pat Casey nailed it....we were a lock if you look at our record. Of the 4 teams ahead of us that got in....we had an 8-2 win/loss against them. We swept ASU.....had same conference record as them.....same RPI and then ASU gets put in as a #2 seed in their bracket......this one smells so rotten.....there were teams that got in only because of politics to the chagrin of OSU. Easy one to point out is South Alabama......and the list goes on. To take 10 teams out of the ACC is B*llsh*t..... Actually he didn't... we weren't a lock. Infuriating as it may be there are more variables than what you mention. The biggest being auto bids to crappy baseball conferences with tourneys that have upset winners plus another decent team. Add to that the love affair with the ACC and SEC... but that's a well known fact you deal with every year in multiple sports.... some conferences are just favored. But, most on this board know how bad this team was until the last 6 games. No knew would have complained then. But, win 5 of 6 vs sub par non-tourney teams and now we're suddenly a lock? Crazy talk. We left our fate in the hands of other coaches and beaureaucrats... this is what can happen. Makes little sense to keep harping on what's done... I'll let you all keep this thread alive.

If you have a conference member on the selection committee, you expect him to lobby for you if you are a bubble team from his conference. That's exactly what ASU's Pat Murphy did for us in 2007, and we got in. PC says Meggs never talked to him, or offered to support us in our time of need. Meggs has other past transgressions against OSU baseball that I won't go into, so this certainly isn't out of character for him. To dismiss our snubbing by saying "this is what can happen" is a cop out. What happened to our O State ballers was wrong, and as a fan I have every right to be pissed off about it, and to complain.
I offer one final tidbit on this subject. The guys that write for D1baseball.com are considered by many (myself included) to know more about college baseball than just about anyone. They too felt we were jobbed.

You really need to learn to pick your battles, dude. You lose any credibility with this argument.
I agree, this is a out of character for PC. But Pat Casey has the highest character of anyone you will find in sports at any level, so the fact he is speaking out on this indicates to me how terribly egregious it is and what an incredibly flawed system it is.
Really, just give it up.
LMAO... First, I don't "pick battles". If you disagree with a post great. In having people disagree with you doesn't mean you picked to battle... quite the contrary, those who belittle the poster chose to do so. Argue the merits, but the rest is "garbage" that bears the mark of ignorance. You posted knowing your post would stir the pot. Face it, you're the John Canzano of Benny's House.

Hosed or not, I can't recall a season where PC did less with the talent on the roster. Now they need to direct that anger into focusing on coming to play the whole season next year.

"Makes little sense to keep harping on what's done... I'll let you all keep this thread alive."
Those were 9 of the best hours of my Benny's House life...
LOL
And to bring my thoughts to the original post-
Lose to UP, swept by UA, lose series to uo and on and on. Win a couple more games and there is no controversy. There are plenty of reasons to keep OSU out of the tourney.
The point I cannot let go is...how ASU is a #2 seed when their RPI is 1 spot higher, finish 4-4 in their last 8 games(6 against the same 2 teams we finished 6-2 with-- USC and UCLA which we just swept with 27 innings of shut-out baseball), tied for 3rd in the conference standings and swept in our head to head AT ASU. If they are a #2 seed, OSU is in. If they are one of the last 2-3 teams to get into the tourney, then I can see (I guess) leaving OSU out. There is NO WAY that OSU falls out of the top 64 teams if ASU is in the top 32 teams.(as a #2 seed would indicate.)
Ask any coach, AD, or perceived expert the scenario listed above as a Team A and Team B...Team B should be in every time. Hell, Team B might get picked to be in ahead of Team A. IMHO

This stuff Pat Casey said is correct. Without him, the PAC is still playing Northern and Southern Divisions, and without him, who knows what happens in 2017? I still want to see someone swinging on a 3-0 pitch. Nothing is better than nervous pitchers, in other uniforms.

I kind of have to agree with the guy everyone is angry at right now. Casey says we are out because we didn't politic and that's not how we do things, but then puts it on administration to start asking questions....sure sounds like politicking to me. Obviously it's not going to help this year, but he's already planting the seed in the minds of college baseball's powers that be that they are in for a headache if they leave us out in a similar situation next year.
I think it's the right move.....even if it's not necessarily the "ethical" play. But Casey seems like he's on both sides of the fence on this one.
