Went to Omaha in '17 and '18 and it was oppressively hot most of the time...like mid to upper 90's, and super humid. I couldn't believe it. Being a westcoast guy I was just not prepared for how hot and sticky it would be.....watching our guys out there in there black tops I was expecting them to pass out, then I remembered theyre 20 year old finely tuned athletes and I'm middle aged guy with a beer in my hand.

There are 10 Cactus League stadia in the Valley. You can add Brazell Field at GCU Stadium and Phoenix Muni to those 10 to get to 12. You can add the Kino Sports Complex and Hi Corbett in Tucson to get to 14. But you really need 16. It would have been easier to accommodate the regionals before Packard and Sancet were demolished. Maybe you could get there with some high-end community college fields or the like? The question in my mind is why would you want to subject everyone to Arizona in June. They hold Spring Training in Arizona, because Arizona is usually great from February to April. But, in the regional format, you have to play at least three games during the day in June. Oregon State visits Phoenix Municipal in nine days. The weather then will be highs 96-99 and lows 68-69. Two of those will be at night, which should make them somewhat bearable. But first pitch on Sunday is at 12:30 p.m. Fortunately, it should be somewhat cloudy and windy on Sunday, but you are still dealing with a 96-degree day. The Regionals are scheduled to go from June 4-7. The average high from the 5th-7th is 98 degrees. And temperatures in Arizona have been about 9-11 degrees above average in the last 5-6 days. I mean, you could easily see a host of 109-degree day games. The Super Regionals would be easier, though, because you need fewer sites and you could run more. But, you are dealing with still hotter practices Super Regional weekend. I always think that giving all those regional host spots to Southern teams is stupid. No one should want to play the most important games in June in Arizona or the Southeastern swamps. In all reality, they should try and find 16 sites along the Pacific Coast, just about perfect weather in June for baseball. Have u been to Omaha on June? That first North Carolina game in Omaha in 2018 is worse than you will ever see in Arizona. 96 degrees with 68% humidity. And Luke Heimlich foolishly made all the guys wear black. Plain stupid. You can tell that that 2018 team was great, because they kept it as close as they did. When it is that hot and humid, you choose white every dam time. Washington wore white and jumped out to 3-0 and 5-4 leads before the lights came on. Oregon State wore white in game 1 against Mississippi State and won 12-2. Mississippi State wore that dark maroon in game 2, and Oregon State jumped out to a 5-0 lead. After the sun went down, the Bulldogs scored two late. Heimlich had the guys wearing black again in game 1 against Arkansas. Loss. The 88 degree 87% humidity finale between LSU and Oregon State in 2017 was also gross. And Oregon State foolishly wore orange. 93 degrees and 74% humidity in the finale between Mississippi State in 2013 was even worse. The Bulldogs wore white and won 4-1.

The beginning of the 2018 College World Series was awful. 96 degrees with 68% humidity feels like 124 degrees. And Oregon State wore black! Gross. The first three days in Omaha were bad. Then it cooled off to allow the Beavers to win the final three games in relatively cool weather. Then it started to heat up again for the Arkansas series. Right before game 2 started, it was 88 degrees with 100% humidity, feels like 121 degrees. Game 3 was 91 degrees with 82% humidity, feels like 119 degrees. Fortunately, Oregon State did not wear black and won both. 2017 was bad, too, but not really when Oregon State was playing. The 20th-22nd were bad, but the 23rd was relatively cool. Then, hotter for the finale with LSU.

The only way we could qualify is if we can hit that 50% capacity mark. And the only way we can do that is if we allow only fully vaccinated fans into the stadium. And our risk level would have to drop from high. That would mean pretty much only people 60 and over could get in, since unless someone who just became eligible 3 weeks ago for a vaccine had the J&J one shot, few younger than those eligible over 3 weeks ago will have had the chance to finish a two shot cycle. Having said all that, if we got it, I would be there! I've seen a lot of young college students posting that they're vaccinated on the social media accounts. Don't know how they did it, but several were vaccinated before I could even sign up. I think there are more vaccinated young people out there than you would think going by the state's schedule.

My wife and I went to the first two games in 2018.....I had good seats for NC in first game and foolishly we sat in the blazing sun for the first six innings......we finally had too much sun and humidity and joined the bulk of the fans in the shade. The second game started out hot and humid and we were trailing Wash when the thunderstorm delay came. After a long delay.....game resumed the Beavs kicked butt the rest of the way. So yeah playing in that kind of hot muggy conditions has got to be tough for the players

That game against the fuskies, my dad and I sat next fuskie fans.....we overheard one of em make a phone call to change his travel plans......pre-storm.
We went to Blatt to wait it out, came back, and had a blast! Always brings a smile to my face thinkin about how that fuskie fan prolly thinks he jinxed it!
