PJ has my vote for playing time. He has a lot better plate approach than either McDowell or McMahan. I cringe when we have a batter on second and McD or McM come to the plate.....they are just hoping to get a walk and not trying to be aggressive. McM started off well this season but has been in an extended slump....although PJ has struggled recently as well but he’s still trying to make contact

Thing about PJ is he doesn't make solid contact much of the time. McMahan drives the ball.....Mcdowell needs a lot more work before he's ready for pitching at this level....... ultimately, PJ should be getting the nod of the three with a hope that Mcmahan gets out of his slump.....

I would like to see the staff look to adjust McDowell's batting stance. He starts with the bat straight up and down right in front of his chest. Then he has to bring the bat back over his shoulder before he starts his swing. That is an extra movement that he does not need.

PJ has athleticism and speed. Good defensive outfielder. Good team guy and an asset in the dugout.
Pj is a one lever swinger. Triggers from a low hands position with fast body rotation moving the bat through the zone with his arms sans wrist cock that prevents any bat lag (what you want). The result is a swing that Trackman sez is elevated above the ideal 7.5 degree launch angle.
Go back and Catalog PJ's outs during his OSU career - an unusual number of pop ups and strike outs. Swing correction for PJ would have been a major untaking. It was not just a "tweak" here and there but rather starting over from ground zero.

When I watch him hit, the bat through the zone, and how the ball comes off the bat never looked right to me....once in a while he strokes one, but its a rarity.
