Now we have all watched some pretty fair shortstops in our last few decades at OSU. Darwin, Cadyn - still think Beau Phillips was as smooth as they come.
But the antics of Andy "Freaking Army" Armstrong this season are just amazing me. And he's turned into the best hitting shortstop perhaps of the bunch. Too bad he is a senior cause if he was a junior he'd be a pretty high draft pick!

I think he is still going to be a high pick . The difference for seniors is the team that drafts them and the money on the table !Maybe Round 5 or so !
My guess is that he is a long term MLB guy. He will develop more power once he hits the bigs too !

A little off topic but who is going to fill his shoes next year? Froemke is a SS with a little pop in his bat....I would guess he would have a shot at it. |

I think Dernedde is the guy being groomed to step in at SS after this season.
And while I love Army and how he has played for us I'll be a bit surprised if he's drafted high at all.

I like Andy ( head tapping his helmet and all). He’s been a good one for the Beavs. Made some great moves on the defensive side and has been solid at bat. My biggest memory is him at bat in Game 2 against Arkansas......almost blew the first bunt attempt but made a great second one.....watching a 95 mph fastball coming in chest high takes some guts...more than I got. Being a senior will hurt him in the draft but I gotta think he will stick somewhere and maybe get a shot at the bigs
