yeah we lost 2 of 3 but all games had exciting endings...Playoff level We could've lost all 3 if Armstrong doesn't put on a "superman cape" in game one. We also could've swept them if a couple of plays go our way. That was playoff tournament type baseball at its best. We need to "beat the crap" out of Loyola Marymount on Tuesday and Wednesday , then take 2 of 3 from UCLA @ Jackie Robinson Stadium. If we accomplish 4 out of 5 wins, we're in good shape. Its doable.

That series was not good for my blood pressure.....I mean it had so many twists and turns.
I could see UCI making noise in the post season. They are very resilient, and confident....pretty balanced too.

Armstrong wore that cape all series long. We would've lost the other games by more than just a walk-off if he hadn't. It was great baseball. I am looking forward to seeing who gets the call on the field and on the mound for the midweek games.

Intense series that could have gone anywhere from 0-3 to 3-0. Anteaters are a good team - and they're now Ranked #24 by D1 Baseball

In 3 games we outhit the Eaters 12-10, 13-11, and 14-9. I'm not sure how much of the time that teams outhit the other team and lose, but I can't imagine that is too common.
As frustrating as this weekend was I was encouraged by our performance. Never gave in. We looked lightyears ahead of where we were just a few weeks ago at the plate. The trajectory of the team is in the direction you want heading into the toughest part of the schedule and post season.
If I'm UCI, I DO NOT want to see OSU again, and definitely not anywhere outside of their home stadium. They won this series by the skin of their teeth. At home. They may have taken a step towards a better seed right now, but I think OSU is built better for the post season. We'll see where things end up. It's doubtful, but I wouldn't mind a rematch with these guys in a different setting one bit.

They get on base, and score.....we outhit them, but they took advantage of the free passes.....I think their approach is solid. I wish we did some more small ball stuff, especially with guys like Jones and Mcdowell.....they just need to get on base....at least a bunt attempt, with their speed, they have a good shot. As the season started I felt like this team goes as Abel goes. If we go into a regional, and his command isn't there still, we put ourselves in a huge hole......the better teams have made us pay for the sloppy pitching

They reminded me a bit of the Yucks. Yucks have better pitching. I didn't think Ants pitching was all that great. They did hit the ball with runners on. That was the difference.

I agree with this sentiment. Their pitching wasn't overly impressive. However, they competed, and didn't issue free passes (as far as I can recall) at the clip we did. That was the difference, imo......walking and plunking guys, especially the lead off, kills you.....I'm not sure what the percentage is of letting lead off hitter aboard, and scoring, but it's relatively high.

They hit the ball well with runners on, and giving them about 25 extra runners in a three game series was too hard to overcome. Had our pitchers filled the zone like they did last night against LMU, and we would have swept the series. We have a top 3 defense in the nation, and they played like it, but it's hard to defend against a walk or hit batter.
