I previously indicated that we passed on Devon Hunter for the 2nd open position. I am now hearing they we have reconsidered and offered her the job. The staff should now be complete. You gotta be kidding me right? This is the high level hire everyone was hoping for? So who did they really want? Anyone know?

How do you get a 'high level' hire for the number 3 or 4 position on a small staff? It's a stepping stone, is it not? You don't get Tara wanting to ease into retirement via a low profile job; you get some young person who aspires to be Tara 35 years from now. My guess (and it's only a guess) is that initially they had 1 or 2 others ranked higher than Deven; those didn't work out, so Deven got the job. If this is correct, congratulations to her and welcome back.

During the 2 years past she has been a graduate assistant for the USD Toreros women's basketball team (WCC / D1 / Head Coach Cindy Fisher - 3 time WCC Coach of the Year). Last month she received her 2nd Masters Degree (Leadership Studies). Whether she turns out to be 'high level', or not, has yet to be revealed.

If it's Jenny and Deven Hunter I think Scott found extremely solid fits for his program. Don't underestimate Jenny as a recruiter and having a graduate of Scott's system in Deven will pay off dividends.

If it's Jenny and Deven Hunter I think Scott found extremely solid fits for his program. Don't underestimate Jenny as a recruiter and having a graduate of Scott's system in Deven will pay off dividends. Jenny is extremely experienced and has a ton of recruiting contacts. With Jenny being the recruiting coordinator, and Jonas seemingly even more involved in searching out prospective recruits (just going by his social media), I doubt a lot will be expected from Devin on the recruiting front this early on in her career. I've kept an eye on Devin's social media lately to see if there were any hints of her being the new hire, but I didn't pick up on any hints. Norm is usually 'right on' in these matters so I suspect the Beavs will announce the two new hires (Jenny and Deven) soon. I'm a little surprised Deven hasn't updated her twitter profile from her grad assistant time, but I expect that will happen soon. I was hoping Deven would take Kendal's old job because that would be a great spot to learn so much about college women's basketball operations, but I'm sure the assistant position is the one she really wanted, so congrats to her!! If these two hires hold true, the Beavs definitely checked some boxes many observers thought were needed.

Hey Norm, are you hearing anything on official visits from our 2022 commits (Adlee, Lily, Timea, and Raegen)? I know it's a busy AAU season, but I expected the Beavs would have them visit sometime soon. With the 2021 signee's now on campus, and if a full staff is in place, it sounds like a good time to get them out here for their visit.

Couldn't not be more proud of her....she will be a terrific addition to this staff. And she was not the 'bottom of the barrel" in terms of finding a replacement for the coaches that left. Some may say she was the second or third choice...not sure where that information is coming from? Her knowledge of the game and game time adjustments will be huge! USD wanted to keep her but she couldn't pass up this opportunity. I love her to death!! She will be terrific!

I said I was just guessing, based on earlier reports on this board that she had wanted the job but was not going to get it. That was a couple of weeks ago. I have no idea what the actual job search procedure was, nor do I really care. Bottom line, I think this is a very good move for her and that it will work out very well for all concerned.

Let's not forget Devin was a four year starter for some of the best Beaver teams ever, and has final four experience. Those alone are big. The experience she had as a Beaver player along with her education and experience as a grad assistant should get her off to a good start as an Assistant coach. I'm looking forward to watching her growth, and all that she adds to the team. Congrats to Deven, and to you beav74!

Touche’ Maybe a bit biased but I know how much Deven knows the game of basketball. Her international experience and time at USD will be invaluable. She’s someone that knows how to coach herself out of a paper bag.
