Well-written article. Nike’s entire corporate culture is rotten.

Not surprising. I used to bid work there. Finally got an interview on one several years back at the beginning of the big expansion. Met with the Hoffman guys, and Phil's right hand man Howard Slusher. Spent 30-40 minutes going over scope, etc. Howard doesn't say a word. Hoffman guys finish. I think we're done and start folding my stuff up. Howard speaks out and starts telling me that they have a pretty good idea of what work goes for at the campus. Proceeds to tell me they think the job I'm bidding is "worth" about 25% less than our bid. I laugh in a polite way and tell him we must not have anywhere close to the same margin on construction work as there is on shoes. The meeting concluded in good spirits and we left. When my guy and I got back we had a message from another guy at Hoffman. Wanted to interview us for another, different project we had bid about the same time, as we were in the top 3. I told my guy to call him back and tell him if we aren't low bidder now, we won't be after meeting, and to get back to us if they still wanted to meet. Never heard from them after that. Funny. But in hindsight I'm glad it ended the way it did.
