Thanks. I think it will be fun to re-visit this after Sabrina picks a school and enrolls.
Here is an interesting new detail I just saw posted ... Sabrina's brother is NOT going to walk-on at Oregon. AND Sabrina has signed with the Ducks.
Golly - I wonder if that changes anyone's view of the circumstances in this recruiting saga.

Someone on twitter says he wont enroll for the fall. Doesn't mean he wont end up at UO. Either way it will be interesting. Or not. Probably not.

Nope, not at all. They (uo) offered to sell their soul to the devil. Just because the devil declines does not change the intent of what they were willing to do. Congats on your team, our's will be just fine.

There are a bunch of reasons that come to mind.
Maybe Coach Altman told Sabrina's brother that he would have to compete for a spot like any other walk-on. If that is the case, then it would not be any different than any other freshman college basketball player without a scholly that wanted to try to make the team ... no guarantees. But if you were to believe the suspicions written here, Altman promised the kid playing time to get his sister to sign.
As is still promoted on this site, Sabrina would sign with Oregon BECAUSE her brother was going to walk-on to play basketball for the Ducks. But the fact that she signed with Oregon and he chose not to enroll (the report I read said he is going to a Junior College in California), really is an indication of the disconnect of the decision made by Sabrina and the location of her brother's college matriculation.

Yes and no. Grades (his) could also possibly be at play. If you don't qualify - you don't qualify. Nobody (here) insinuated anything about her brother being guaranteed PLAYING TIME (as a walk-on). That's a ludicrous statement. Sorry ... a little over-board on the hyperbole ... He was promised a spot as a walk-on. Well, except for the fact he did not walk-on. Grades? Possible. But that would have been known up front (e.g. there would have been no offer to begin with if grades were an issue). Even if it was grades, a high school kid can take Summer classes and even Fall Term classes to get on a roster as a walk-on in January.
I can't shake the idea that Sabrina knew the circumstances as well as anyone. So, regardless of the reason, Sabrina knew her brother wasn't going to Oregon out of high school before she decided to attend Oregon.

Dude, he didn't choose to not enroll. He couldn't get in! If I had a kid I wanted NOTHING to do with, but I thought I could get something from, (like in good with his sister) and I thought he would never get through admissions...I would offer a spot too,(walk on because he can't earn a scholly on his own merit) all day long. As a matter of fact, I would tell sis I would do everything I could with admissions to try to get him in.*wink, wink* Then I tell admissions, "I really want the kid here (cough), but cannot use a chip on him". Sorry sis, we tried to get him in...AND wanted him on the team. But big bad admissions wouldn't let him in. We tried as best we could...do you still want to come?*PLEASE

I noticed her reason for waiting to make/announce her decision changed with every article. The last one was telling: (paraphrasing) something to do with having a team SHOWING her rather than telling her....Like a previous posted wrote, makes one wonder what she was shown.

You this for a fact how? And like I previously posted, if he "couldn't get in" that would have been known long before Sabrina's decision. If the Oregon coaches came back to Sabrina during the process and said "Sorry, but brother is not getting a spot.", then it would make sense for her NOT to choose Oregon if the brother getting the spot was a deciding factor. The logical conclusion is that her brother's walk-on status did NOT affect her decision at all - one way or the other.
"... *wink, wink* ..." Love that one.

Lots of things to disagree with and you fail to acknowledge how this process can be manipulated. How do you account for kids that are offered and accept full scholarships that do not make it through admissions? Sometimes clear up to and through September.(Football and Hoops) Surely they must have known they would not make it into a school. Why do coaches still offer the schollies?
If he makes it to a 4 year Div I school from the JC, we will see if he was a full or partial qualifier out of HS. That does become public information.
Unless your name is really Spock, or you are some other Vulcan, your "logical conclusion" statement does not hold water. Just because you type it on an anonymous message board does not make it fact. You really think her brother's walk-on status did NOT affect her decision at all? I have the proverbial beach front property in sunny Arizona for sale...cheap.
Again...I assume you like what your team added. I like what OSU did. The rest will come out over time...

Brother is not coming to Oregon; he is going to a California JC. Sabrina signed with Oregon in spite of her brother's status as a walk-on at Oregon.
If you can take those facts and create a story about manipulating a process then I have a few other conspiracy theories you can buy.
