Think of it....We handily SWEEP the dogs AT Seattle...and it was one-sided enough that I was ALMOST sorry for them ('till I remembered who their coach is). Then, the following weekend the Fuskies turn around and take TWO from top-ten ranked UCLA on the road!!
And powerhouse(?) Stanford barely took two of the three at Pullman....but came within a single inning of losing that series....
'Probably best this year not take ANYONE too lightly. And if Mitch can keep things fairly consistent and on an even keel, we might have a real shot.
PS -- I like MC's low key demeanor during games. No hysterics...no wild arm-flailing.

Good take .....but Wazoo has a solid club(pretty aggressive at the plate) and I think they will give any of the Pac teams a hard time. I also like MC game approach but I think in some key games down the stretch we might see a little more emotion coming out of him. We do need to clean up the wild pitches and HBP plus better catching......from what I’ve seen I like Cole the best. Troy is just not having the kind of year I expected from him....seems pretty passive at the plate

A week ago I posted about being a spoiled baseball fan. This weekend's series shows me that I am really a spoiled fan. We go 4-1 on the week, yah the teams were not the best we will play, but I expect the perfect team every time out and wonder why the team has to lose sometime. 2017 was just unreal, and the 2018 team that was even more stacked due to all those #1 picks and top pitchers coming back a year more experienced, but they couldn't match 2017. This team won't match either of those squads, but they still have it in them to run it to Omaha.
Spoiled rotten fan I am.

PS -- I like MC's low key demeanor during games. No hysterics...no wild arm-flailing. I liked when Donkey was batting in the last game and he took an issue with a ball the ump called a strike. Donkey was frustrated. MC came out of the dugout not to have words with the ump like we all thought, but took a moment to teach Donkey that batters don't win making remarks to the ump (I assume). Very calm. Pretty cool.

That 2019 season was a killer. And 2020 wasn't looking to be fun either. Things feel much smoother this year than either of those years. Our pitching is still one of the best staffs in the country. Our fielding is still excellent--though we demand something higher. And our hitting seems to be coming together.

Our pitching looks great. Too many free passes with walks and HBP’s, but that can be fixed.
The defense looks solid. The only concern here is the backstop. Teams with any speed are going to run on us.
The offense is starting look like it’s coming around. It’s nice seeing some newer guys step up. Jacob Melton – Wow!
Overall, this team could be a force come tournament time. We may not get to host. However (I’ve said it before) we may be the team no one wants in their regional.

Good teams will make us pay for lack of ability throw out would-be base stealers, especially if the free passes continue at this clip. Perfect storm is our bats going cold and the above happens.....hopefully as the season goes on the coaching staff can clean a lot of this up....and hopefully our hitting continues to be solid. Seems like when a couple guys slump, others pick em up. Dukart has been really consistent at the plate....and in the field....glad he decided on baseball

Gonzaga guy stole third easily last night. That is all on the pitcher. I have a feeling that that is part of the issue with runners stealing 2B. We are spoiled by Adley being able to make up for pitchers deficiancies. His mechanics & arm made up for pitchers slow release to home plate. Sonot allon the catchers. That said I like Cole behind the plate last night

Salgado has a quick delivery compared to many on the staff.

I think that Washington State was much closer to taking the series in Corvallis than it was to taking the series against Stanford in Pullman. UCLA has played like a middle-of-the-road Pac-12 team, at best, on the season. The winner of this weekend's Stanford-UCLA series is unofficially officially the most dangerous team in the Pac-12. Oregon State v. Oregon is a big one. It is hard seeing Oregon State hosting without a win in Eugene. The Beavers probably need to finish at least 21-6 to be in the discussion, and, given how backloaded the schedule is, I do not know how that happens without at least two wins in Eugene

So, some perspective is in order. Oregon State earned a host spot in 2019 with a 36-18-1 record in 2019. The Beavers probably would need be in the host conversation with a 16-8 finish on the season. Short of there, it is hard to see a host spot being extended. Oregon State earned a National Seed with a 42-12 record in 2014. The Beavers would need to go 22-2 to better that. That was the #1 overall seed, though, so there is probably some give short of there.
