Bright Lights for Jacob Melton and the Beavers From D1 Baseball !
Player of the Day: Jacob Melton, 1B, Oregon State
Melton had a huge day at the plate in an equally huge 17-3 win by No. 21 Oregon State on Friday. He started his day with a solo home run, added an RBI double, a grand slam and another solo shot to give him a 4-for-5 day at the plate with four runs scored and seven driven in. The grand slam exited his bat at 110.7 mph and traveled 440 feet, according to TrackMan data. In other words: it was obliterated. Melton also went 3-for-4 on Thursday in Oregon State’s 4-3 win over Utah, giving the Beavers a 20-5 record and the series win, their third straight in Pac-12 play.
(and no Parker, he didn't go to Grants Pass HS - he went to South Medford)

Very fluid swing with quick bat through the zone. His swing reminds me a little bit of Jacoby because he goes after any pitch even close to the plate, and takes the same swing.. Lots of power off the barrel !

The first home run rocketed off the bat (exit velo) at 110.8 mph and traveled 440 feet.
Our new Edgertronic system tracked that missile.
That's Adley territory. folks.

Mike Parker said his three base hits Thursday were between 107-110 exit velocity. Said on his talk show Melton has Larnach/Conforto type power. Not out of the question he could hit 15 or more homers. 6-3 200 pound lefty. Bright future...

And I was pretty sad to see McGarry and his sweet swing move on, but “Meltbomb” is a pretty good replacement for that lefty, and I swear his hands and bat speed move through the zone quicker than Michael’s or Adley’s.

McGarry was a K machine, especially against good pac 12 pitching....he smoked a few though. I think Melton's ceiling is much higher than McGarry
