Unfortunately, not too surprising. Wish him the best.

Really thought he'd contribute more this year, but for whatever reason it didn't pan out. Doesn't seem he had much confidence that was going to change.

One transfer out, one transfer in. I'm okay with that.

Committed to Cal Poly. Definitely a step down, but hopefully for him that means more success. Good luck.

So, both guys that were in line to get ET's minutes leave? Is Ethan staying?
Other than the fact that Franklin will for sure start for Cal Poly, I'm not sure I get this. I kind of understand Franklin wanting to get more court time at a smaller school, but I definitely don't understand why Silver left. He was probably a starter next year.

Julien's short and sweet good-bye to OSU. Being “apart” of the NCAA run and “apart” of his journey sounds like part of the problem.

I don’t know if Silver was necessarily a starter next year with two new guards coming in. Also, I think as fans we just think about the route to playing time, when there could be other things going on — fit with school, fit and relationships with team/players, relationship and trust in coaching staff. I think the last one might play a bigger role in transfers than we know. These guys are told things during the recruiting process about how they’ll be used and developed. If those things don’t come to fruition it is possible some of that trust in the coach has been eroded, and it is difficult to get that back. Not an insider and not saying any of those things were in play with either Franklin or Silver, or with other players in recent years. Just saying as fans we tend to see these young men strictly as players, statistics and usage (and I am as guilty of that as anyone), but there is more to their experience and could be other factors that contribute to their decisions.

All good points. On the surface it did seem like Silver would have had a real opportunity to play next year and beyond, but like you said there is a lot more going on with these guys than just playing time, and indeed basketball. I do hope the new guys are ready to contribute. We'll pretty much need them to now.

Agreed. Looks like Davis might be up to the task. See who else they bring in. Missed in Goldwire from Duke. Saw we’re in final 3 for Kopp from Northwestern, though he’s more a 3.

Bummed about Goldwire. Definitely need another PG. Jarod showed this year that in a pinch he can fill in at PG some as well. Don't know if Malone-Key has played much PG, probably more of a SG but maybe he could fill some minutes in there as well. I think we'll be OK, but agree you can never have too many guys who can handle and pass the rock.
