Quick (probably meaningless) Next Stat Line Up
Ranking of total seeding points teams have faced to get to the E8 - lower is better
Houston - 36
Ark - 35
UCLA - 31
Baylor - 30
Gonzaga - 29
Mich - 28
USC - 21
OSU - 17
OSU has played by far the toughest three games of anyone left .... Houston, you have a problem

Houston, you have a problem It's funny how that works in people's heads. "Oh, it should be a breeze for Houston since the Beavers are ranked so low." But any low-ranked opponent still alive has had to go through quite a bit to get there, while the top-ranked teams have had the easier schedule...by design.

If i heard things right today I believe that Houston would be the first team ever to make Final Four without beating a single digit seeded team.. every team they have played so for has been double digit seed

It's funny how that works in people's heads. "Oh, it should be a breeze for Houston since the Beavers are ranked so low." But any low-ranked opponent still alive has had to go through quite a bit to get there, while the top-ranked teams have had the easier schedule...by design. If i heard things right today I believe that Houston would be the first team ever to make Final Four without beating a single digit seeded team.. every team they have played so for has been double digit seed Houston's Tournament opponents have been #15 Cleveland State, #10 Rutgers, #11 Syracuse and #12 Oregon State. No team has been able to make it to the Final Four by beating only double-digit seeds. Part of that reason is by design. Only the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 seed can actually turn the trick. And, functionally, it is impossible for the 4 or 5 seeds to turn the trick, because no 16-seed has ever advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. And then, to top it off, only two teams ranked 12th or lower have ever advanced to the Elite Eight to play that lucky 2, 3 or 6 seed. The first was Missouri in 2002. The Tigers beat #5 Miami, #4 Ohio State and #8 UCLA en route to the Elite Eight before bowing out to #2 Oklahoma. Oregon State is only the second team ranked 12th or lower to advance to the Elite Eight. What I hear, though, is that no team has ever advanced to the Final Four having only defeated double-digit seeds. Let's hope that is still true after today.
