Let's take a look at the eight teams that went in 2013: Four of them are nationally ranked right now: Mississippi State #3, Louisville #5, LSU #8, NC State #13. The 2013 CWS winner (UCLA) hasn't been ranked all season.
Here are the current RPI's of the 2013 teams: Louisville #1, NC State #7, LSU #9, Mississippi State #10, North Carolina #15, OSU #50, UCLA #93, Indiana #94.
D1baseball.com says two of them will be National Seeds: Mississippi State (#5) and Louisville (#3). In 2013 only three of the eight National Seeds made it to Omaha.
OSU is in the bottom half of the eight that went three years ago, but it is very difficult to stay on the top of the heap in baseball (or any other sport) year after year. Has Pat Casey spoiled us? You bet he has. Do fans have unrealistic expectations? Sure we do.
The fat lady hasn't sung yet. If they take care of business this weekend, they will punch their ticket to the dance. What dance card they draw is important, and I will weigh in on that later.

We are a lot like UCLA teams of the past. Very talented, very young, not playing to potential. But if they get hot... who knows.
