1st game of double header.
We built a 5-0 lead over our first five at bats with three homers. Then after five, as I follow the twitter feed, it's 5-5. Cats score five runs. Two hits that inning were home runs off of our 'elite' pitcher. One of the batters that homered hit two yesterday off of this same elite pitcher. Grrrr.
We end up giving four more runs off a grand slam in the 6th off a different pitcher.
I root for all our coaches but games like this, and there are many, are so hard to take. If any coach I criticize turns it around, ala Wayne Tinkle, I'll eat crow for days. That being said I still continue to doubt our coaching staff. I realize we don't get top pitching recruits but players can improve and I just don't see it. Marcie Greene is our pitching coach. She is a friend/teammate of Laura Berg. Never understand why friend/teammate coaches are hired. In my opinion Coach Berg will never let her go. Is she the issue? I don't know but some move has to be made to try something different.
What make it worse is tsdtr loses their coach and a couple top players in 2018, finishes last in 2019, then covid year and now they are ranked in the top three.
I just want our team to improve and have a chance. I would be happy with an occasional super regional and WCWS run from time to time. The mediocrity is tough to take.
