Conference play is always a buzzsaw. Every season, each conference series comes down to a handful of plays. This year's Beaver squad has shown resilience, and the ability to come back from deficits......that's the good. They've also shown a disappearance in hitting, and some defensive lapses. This is not the '18 team at the plate, or in the field....not by a long shot! I think 2 seed is a good projection, based on our pitching. It could get worse or we could host, based on how we do in conference. We will get the chance to prove it on the field. "...not the '18 team at the plate, or in the field....not by a long shot!" Counting Adley, the 2018 team had four (4!!) 1st Round picks, including 1st overall (2019). It will never happen again (and that coming from a believer in 'never say never'). For an exercise in imagination, picture: Joe Casey, Andy Armstrong, and Preston Jones - ALL being First Round picks this summer, and Jake Dukart first OVERALL Pick next year. ....Or, as alternates (for this year) throw in Troy Claunch or Ryan Ober or Kyler McMahan.
"...by a long shot" could be seen as an extreme understatement. Exactly my point.....I think expectations can get too lofty after an all time team. I do think it's possible to get that kind of talent together though......there's a handful of teams who do it.....why not us?

Beavs are the #2 seed at the Mississippi regional. Opposite a Regional being hosted in Eugene by you know who. Would be nice to beat Mississippi, then pay the dux back back, for what they did to us at Goss. As was shown by the March Madness basketball projected matchups - even those diagrammed out after the end of the regular season - it is cuckoo talk to predict field of 64 matchups. In this case, the college baseball teams still have several dozen games to play before 'selection day'. Any thoughts of an OSU appearance in a super regional in Eugene is well-beyond even a reasonable level of fantasy.

All they usually get right are the 16 hosting seeds. But, as a fan, it is fun to see and think about possible outcomes, months ahead of time. Like it or not, the dux have a good team this year. They probably don't deserve their #13 ranking, because so far this weekend, they have lost both games to #21 Arizona. They are 11-6, 2-3 in conference. We are 16-5, 4-1 in conference.

Some of the doomsday attitude in this thread doesn't jive with the fact that we are currently leading that PAC-12 in conference play and in overall win percentage.......impressive negativity for a team with a 76.2% winning percentage!

The #2 seed is a joke at this point in time. Problem with name familiarity is that whoever put the 64 together doesn't know the current situation. if Beavs continue to play like they have recently they will be lucky to stay out of the bottom half of the pac12. Just speaking the truth. Beavs are 16-5 and looking to start 5-1 in conference play. Where you at?
