Other than the fact that the game was THERE for the Beavs to win in the 9th and they failed, there were two late inning performers (Latterly / Forrester) that did their job - and very much contributed to putting the Beavs in a position to win.
Latterly was excellent in his 2 innings: 29 pitches / 0 Hits / 1 BB / 3 SO / 0 Runs. Couldn't ask for more.
Forrester's HR to lead-off the 9th provided the spark/ingredient that should have led to a W.
Over the years the Beavs have had some very good 'big stick' type guys. Both KJ Harrison & Conforto showed that in their Freshman seasons (10 & 13 HR, respectively). Adley & Larnach not so much as freshmen.
I'm hoping that Forrester is a budding KJ/Conforto type, because the team really needs 'that guy' NOW. His 2 HR in 25 AB's, with only 4 SO is a good start.

Really like Forrester and love his nickname, Donkey. He looks far better and more confident than most of our hitters. I can see him becoming a Beaver 20 HR guy which would be outstanding.

LATTERY not Latterly. No L at the end Dang! too late to edit title is seems. And I'm one of those fans that was driven crazy by the many years of (and still as recently as a few days ago!) the many creative misspellings of the name of the great Beaver shortstop: Cadyn Grenier

All who have played have seen our ACE have terrible days. S... happens. I am concerned that our ACE and now a 95+ guy can't seem to get guys out. Sure didn't look like heat to me. Hammered? The huge elephant in the room the mediocre play at catcher. Passed balls and hit and miss to second. Ouch! I know the kid thing but Beav's play better ball!

That and a couple of errors at shortstop Errors at SS are likely an aberration (given several years history for Armstrong)... But the passed balls are a potential serious problem. It's one thing for a (P) to miss his spot, it's quite another if the (C), in effect, "creates" a base hit for the opposition due to a lack of skill/effort behind the plate (aha! There is the ELEPHANT !!). Prediction: Claunch will spend the majority of this late season as a part-time DH...his potential as a draft-able Junior is in jeopardy.

It reminds me of that old quote about fishing: it ain’t called “catching.”

I’d like to see MC allot certain pitchers to certain catchers. Then the pitcher and catcher are better able to get on the same page. We have 20 pitchers on the roster, and while not all have them have thrown, many of them have. And Claunch has been the primary catcher for the season. Catching Able isn’t the same as catching Sebby or Verburg. I’d like to find a way to eliminate the passed balls/wild pitches, but I don’t think it’s simply because Claunch is moving more slowly. He did fine filling in for Adley and last year. This is a new thing in Beaver baseball.
