I just want to point out that SS played what I consider to be her best game as a Beaver yesterday against Tennessee.
Rueck put her in the game early and she played tough, intense defense....She also finished at the basket in excellent fashion (3 for 3, I think). In the past I was skeptical of her ability to finish, but yesterday she looked good when she had her opportunities....
I can see why Rueck has high hopes for her game.....

She played in two games yesterday? She was 3 for 4 worth only 1 turnover. She did play her best game as a Beaver though. |

GO BEAVS!! boxscore says Samuel was 3 for 4 shooting for 6 points, with 3 rebounds and 1 turnover in 16 minutes of playing time. |

Savannah's defense was fantastic. She stayed in front of her player, fought over screens, and, changed the trajectory of her player's shot. Savannah was instrumental in our 18-4 spurt in the 2nd quarter. Was very impressed with her play yesterday. Having long athletic guards is a significant advantage when playing against a team with excellent guard play. I suspect she will get minutes tomorrow.

She indeed seemed more comfortable, and it may have been FSU's style of play. Hope we see more of that going against South Carolina.

OSU's problems in defense earlier in the year was caused by the new folks having problems figuring out who they were supposed to be guarding. Often in transition you'd see them under the basket looking around trying to figure out where to be. It still happens occasionally but far less often. And the switch offs, they are all doing much better. But the ability to actually guard someone was never the problem and Savannah is a great example of the earlier problems and the great improvement. If she can keep finishing like she did yesterday it will make a much easier game tomorrow.

Kudos to Samuel...I think if she stays at osu(no reason to think she wouldn't except a PT issue) she could be a Gabby Hansen type defensive stopper. Love her defensive potential.

I was definitely a Savannah doubter at the beginning of the season. The way she’s stepped up and made the most of her minutes has really impressed me. Really glad she was able to finish at the rim yesterday. But in my opinion, her ability to fight through screens and be disruptive on defense are currently her best attributes.
Also, I absolutely love her jumper and the way she’s able to elevate on her shot. Once she can consistently knock it down (along with some 3’s), she will be a dangerous offensive threat as well. Watch out!
