The post season is literally on the line. Give the ball to the guy who has proven he can handle a tough situation and pressure.

that play behind 2nd by Grenier last inning was absolute commonplace last summer in Bend (only difference was Grenier was doing it from the other direction - SS). I agree with Casey using him at 3B, because his arm is so strong, and we have Morrison/Madrigal in the middle...but Grenier has A+ range as a middle infielder - hopefully we get to see it next season (if T-Mo gets drafted/signs).

Fehmel at 66 pitches at the end of 5. 48 strikes. Very nice. No matter how you look at it, Fehmel has done his job. Fresh bullpen and Fehmel will get the quick hook with any sign of trouble. 3rd time through the order.

Through 6. Fehmel has no nerves in his whole body.

Through 7. Still a shutout. Error did not rattle. 101 pitches. 72 strikes. No-nerve, ex-surfer dude is amazing.

Good call on Fehmel. Had a dominating game today......as late in the season as it is.....I think he has established himself on one of the three starters for us. Hope we can use this series as a step in the right direction for this team.

I'm glad Pat reads this board and followed EugeneDave's advice. Fehmel did great and keeps post season hopes alive, even if barely. If we win 3 from UCLA we are in. If we win 2 we might still be in.

Much needed victory with a great pitching performance by the young man. Thanks for the props folks. Pat mentioned last week that he was thinking of starting Fehmel then, but I had the thought before I heard him say that. Fehmel reminds me of Andrew Moore. Nothing rattles him, and his body language says to the batter: "I dare you to hit this pitch, sucker". That mental toughness is hard to find, and essential if you are a pitcher. He certainly answered the call today, and then some. I'm glad that PC played his ace in the hole. When was the last time we had two quality starts in a weekend? I'm going to enjoy watching him mow down UCLA next Sunday.
