Oregon State's coaching staff certainly didn't allow any grass to grow under it's feet after taking over the Beaver program following the 2019 season. They hit the recruiting trail running and haven't broken stride since, signing a large 16 player 2021 class and laying down the foundation for some exceptional classes in 2022 and 2023.
The early bird gets the worm: A talented and coveted young catching prospect from Mt. Vernon, WA. has committed and will be a cornerstone of the 2025 class.
In spite of the restrictive changes in recruiting resulting from the national health pandemic, the coaches have forged ahead and found ways to get it done. The class of 2022 currently has 14 commitments. With perhaps the addition of one more position player and any late addition walk-ons, this class is likely finished 8 months before national signing day.
The 2023 class currently has 13 commits and should be nearly complete. The addition of one more player and preferred walk-ons should be expected.
Oregon States 2024 class is filling up ahead of schedule with 6 players pledged, including 3 highly touted pitching prospects. With the class approximately half full, and four seasons left to fill it, this should be a banner class.
OSU recruiting has a predictable rhythm to it. Recruit high character kids you like and judge to be good fits for the program and it's culture, avoid kids that are sure fire early draft picks that aren't as interested in attending college as playing baseball professionally, and evaluate kids you can develop within the Beaver program. Kids that are high achievers, hungry for success and eminately, coachable. Where's the floor and how high can the ceiling be?
This recruiting board will be quieter now because the 2022 and 2023 classes are only a late addition or two, and a small walk-on group away from being finished. The coaches' primary focus at this point will be directed towards the 2024 and 2025 classes.
And the beat goes on - Oregon State is going to play some really good baseball over the coming years.
