Congratulations to the coaches and team for sweeping the Brigham Young (3-8) series and extending the OSU win streak to 10 games.
At the conclusion of the 3-game series with BYU, these numbers popped up this evening.
The Beavs made 75 outs in the series. 31 or 41.3% of those outs were strikeouts.
With the 31 K's, OSU drew 15 base on balls for a 2.1:1 strike out to walk ratio.
OSU plated 10 of our 39 base runners leaving 29 on base. Scoring efficiency was 25.6%.
In 114 plate appearances, OSU produced 3 XB Hits - 3 doubles, 0 triples, 0 home runs.
In 92 official at bats, the Beavers pounded out 24 base hits for a team batting average of .261 for the series.
The sum line score for OSU in the series was, 10 - 24 - 1. For BYU, 6-13-1

Not impressive, true.
It's also very hard to hit when the weather is 40-45 degrees and damp. The ball does not carry, you have less feeling in the your hands, it's harder to get loose, etc. The 2018 national-championship team averaged about 4.8 runs in its first eight home games ( 4 vs. Hartford, 1 vs. UP, 3 vs. Fullerton), and did not score more than six runs in any one game.
We are not a power-hitting team. But I do expect those numbers to improve as it warms up and dries out.

We are not a power-hitting team. But I do expect those numbers to improve as it warms up and dries out. Yah, the desert seems to be more conducive to higher numbers in Feb/March. I can't remember a desert swing where our hitting was not well above average, only to see that first few home series bounce us back to reality. But it ain't how high your average, or the number of times you carry the bat back to the dugout on your shoulder, it's what the scoreboard says at the end of the 9th that really matters. 10-1
