The termination of the Stanford program leaves only two full conference members with wrestling programs. Oregon State and Arizona State.
Do we know whether the Pac 12 intends to continue sponsoring conference championship in this sport where now only two members compete?
If the Pac 12 did discontinue conference sponsorship I would think that the relative strengths of the ASU and OSU programs would make them attractive additions to an existing conference such as the big 12 or even the Big 10. Currently Oregon State sponsors seven men’s programs. I don’t know whether the Pac 12 has a minimum number of men sports required to maintain membership. Or whether our wrestling program would still count for conference membership purposes if the conference no longer sponsors a wrestling championship. Anyone have info on that?

The conference has a new person overseeing wrestling and has changed its tune on affiliate membership. It is actively pursuing several programs to change conference affiliation and join the Pac-12; it might have happened as early as next season, if not for Covid. Cal Baptist did not work because the school would not walk back some of its positions and comments relating to social issues such as inclusivity, even though the conference gave the school every opportunity do do so. Still not convinced Stanford is done. Didn't they say on the broadcast last night an alumni group has $12 million in pledges to permanently endow the program? Money talks, even at a daddy warbucks place like Stanford.

All I know is that the schmucks have a "Competitive Cheer" team (or whatever it is called) with a conference membership of "one". Or is that a special deal because they are the "fairer sex"?
