This game is such a perfect example of why we can't get into the top half of this league. We squander opportunities against the toughest competition.
Jr. Mariah Mazon ties the game up in the 6th? at 1-1 with a home run. We go to extra innings and here's how it plays out.
Tournament rules put a runner on 2nd to start extra innings.
Fr Xiou Gin fails at first bunt attempt. Next pitch she squares, pulls back and slaps a single up the middle to put runners at first and third.
Next hitter, number 1 in the order, Fr. Madison Simon hits a weak pop up to the catcher.
Number 2 spot, Fr Charity Sevaaetasi ropes a double to left center to score a run and we now have runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out with our 3rd and 4th spots coming up.
Don't get me wrong, it's great we took the lead but Arizona will get a runner to start their half at second as well and you can bet they'll get that run in so we need at least one more to give us a shot.
Jr. Mariah Mazon, who previously homered to tie the game at 1-1, hits a perfect two hopper to third for the second out.
Next, our fourth hitter Franke Hammoude hits a weak grounder back to the pitcher. I knew right there, game over.
Arizona plates two in the bottom half and wins. Just seems so predictable as a long suffering beaver softball fan.
Very glad we competed well but we will never get to a super regional let alone the field of 64 if we can't win games like this.
Thanks for listening.
Go Beavs!!!
