We have three pitchers who have hit more batters than given up hits on the year. Our opponents should fear this staff.

I played softball with wild things brother. He had the same canon arm. I was playing 3rd moved to cutoff position to relay the throw home and the ball whizzed by me so fast it should have had a contrail. 260 feet From the left field wall to the catcher on a rope, no bounce.

The metal bat issue had a lot of college coaches pitching away. The funny thing is this was a concern for lot of MLB scouts.

Good hitters want to take away the inside half of the plate from the pitchers. Smaller zone, more pitches off the plate for balls, and the hitter can then extend his hands and arms in the swing.
Good pitchers won't allow that. They establish the inside corner as belonging to them right away.
Dorman wants to come inside hard and remove any doubt the hitter may have about that issue.

I feel like Doorman might have been a really good hire. After watching this series, and learning a bit about GCU, where he came from, I'm even more impressed. GCU, as far as I could tell, is very well coached. Maybe Coach Doorman will make us forget about Coach Yeskie.....kinda like Rutsch made us forget about Logan Ice......and when I say forget, I mean replace them, and take away the feeling of loss for the program.

I've got a short memory, already have. Based on the first 8 games, this could be the deepest staff we have had since 2006.

We can bring 6-8 strong guys out of the bullpen to back the starters - in a visit to Omaha, that is an embarrassment (for other teams to face) of riches.

Not to say the Beavs aren’t super-deep in the pen, but I’d guess a LOT of teams are deeper than they’ve ever been considering the change to the MLB draft last year, and the granting of the extra year of eligibility.
