I'm going to start a thread about Covid and politics and hope it dissolves into a discussion of actual fans attending actual games at Goss Covid, and the partisan approach to stopping the pandemic, are the reasons there are no fans attending games at Goss Stadium. So I'd say they are germane to the discussion, or even at the heart of the discussion.

Have you been watching Dr. Zhivago again? I understand what you're saying, but you're being a tad dramatic. Bill of Rights? Do I need to quote Oliver Wendell Homes regarding yelling fire in a crowded theater? I thought not. In a pandemic government's job is to protect people by imposing behavioral restraints on its society. That said, our leaders were bullied into not keeping the restraints on longer. Had they not bowed to the quasi-suicidal, we would have had control over this virus months ago. Instead, circulating as it has has given us three new variants [two more contagious and one more deadly] that may render these vaccines less successful than they should be. As a fully vaccinated individual, I want to take that status out for a spin and watch a damned ball game. You hid the lead. Congratulations on being fully-vaccinated! I want you to be able to go out and catch several ball games immediately. There is no fire, my friend. Their is an usurpation of our God-given rights in an arbitrary, capricious and unscientific manner. I am not trying to cause a panic. I am trying to motivate people to action. I am trying to get people to wake up and demand that their God-given rights be returned to them immediately, if not sooner. Yeah, I remember all of the behavioral restraints imposed during the H1N1 pandemic. Or the SARS pandemic. Or the AIDS pandemic. Or the Hong Kong Flu pandemic. Or the Asian Flu pandemic. Wait, no, I don't. There were no behavioral restraints whatsoever. There were behavioral restraints to the much worse Spanish Flu pandemic, but the behavioral restraints were never as severe, never as invasive and not nearly as long-lasting as they currently are. And that was a much deadlier pandemic than COVID-19. I disagree that keeping the restraints on longer would have done any good whatsoever. If more healthy people had been infected and recovered, you would not have the mass now for variants to propagate. But now is the time to look forward, not back. The lockdowns have done the good that they can do. It is time to move forward with confidence as opposed to remaining mired in fear. ROTHLMAO
