I was really amazed at how Aleah handled the UCLA focus and pressure during the UCLA game - she took a lot of shots to her upper body , including a couple to the face area, and she just became more aggressive and resolved ! There was also a lot of hand checking and shoving during the switch to doubling up on the ball handler ! Seems again, like our opponents get away with murder whether on offense or defense , while we get whistled on phantom infractions. I continue to believe this is because the officiating crew recognizes 'style of play' as individual team characteristics. UCLA - ' oh, that's just their style ', Oregon State - 'that's outside their normal style of play' ! Seems it should be called the same for all of the teams, everywhere ! GO Beavers !

I think there's some truth to what you are saying on officiating, but when it's not your style of play, it also appears more awkward and obvious (i.e. particularly if the grabbing/reaching/bumping is when the offensive player has a step or not. Refs will tend to call fouls more quickly if the offensive player has gotten an advantage vs. when the offensive player hasn't gotten an advantage or even when the defensive player appears to have the advantage). Not saying it's how it should be at all, just why it does tend to work against our style of play when we try to recreate - it's not a skill well practiced. Aleah indeed has really taken a big step forward in her ball-handling vs. pressure this year, and her mental approach in general. She had times last year when teams seemed to be in her head and made her pretty much a non-factor in games, and she's not allowing that to happen this year. It's been the senior leap that we have so often seen with Rueck's players.

Understood - something that Talia and Sasha will be more adept at, next year, due to coaching and playing this 'free year'!
Another reason why , in spite of all of the duck 'amazing'( their description), commitments, they still do not seem to be able to hit on all cylinders - unless it's a runaway game ! They go to one on one offense, and quit playing defense ( at least in blocking out and rebounding ) Scott gets into every angle of the athlete for every game. Look, also, how quickly MACK has stepped up.

Aleah has definitely stepped up and improved her game and her leadership role. I still get anxious with the excess dribbling, but if it works it works. I think if it wasn't for the pauses we would be at this point earlier. Those 2 losses to WSU and the one to Utah really hurt. Scott for President!

As the OSU WBB feed shows, this is 2nd time for Aleah. First time was the rivalry game two years ago where she, among other things, forced Ionescu to travel in the final minutes of the game.
I have to think that the number of players to earn this award more than once is very small. I looked briefly for a stat on this, and found that Kelsey Plum won it at least 3 times.
