Who is the high school recruit osu should target who is uncommitted in the state of Oregon? Rowley? Other? What are the Beavers chances to land the best uncommitted wrestlers left?

This question is perfect for Ocho. I don't follow the HS as close. Harder this year since there has been no school affiliated wrestling. From a friend on another board who follows these things closer than I and is a Beav fan:
Rowley, Hayden Walters, Nash Singleton are all D1 kids IMO. Singleton and Whisenhunt have traded wins. Walters is a tough kid. Upper weight also. I also like Rylan Rogers. He’s from Washington but has been wrestling at Blair Academy in New Jersey. He’s ranked #4 in the country. He is actually wrestling at cour d alene in Idaho with Drew Roberts since New Jersey isn’t wrestling.

Walters is a stud and class of 23 so he might be pretty highly ranked by the time he's a senior. Think there was another thread on it, but the other kids I'd keep an eye on are Mauro Michel out of Cascade, the couple of kids out of Newberg - Evans & Garver (great program), DJ Gillett is another CV/Mat Sense Wrestling Club kid. Won state as a freshman, he could be D1 by the time it's all said and done. He's been wrestling a lot on the regional/national level.

Which of these kids does OSU have a realistic chance of signing? Rowley? I have no idea honestly. Complete wild guess is 50/50. Our staff knows all about him of course, folks live in town, 2 HS teammates will be on the roster, etc. Hopefully the change in staff will work in our favor and we can keep him home. IMO, the top tier NW kids would rather go to Big 10 and face the best of the best (Chance Lamer, Drew Roberts, Santos Cantu, Phillip Kue out of Centennial either just signed or currently on rosters w/B10 schools). Tough deal being the equivalent of a mid-major conference.

The best kids want to go to the Big 10 and compete against the best, but can we develop a top 10 team at osu and have practice be so competitive that the top in-state feel like they can reach their potential at osu? I love our staff. I watched osu osu as a kid and I thought osu was elite in the mid to late 1970's. Back when we had Bielenburg,Harris,Knorr,Hicks,Evenhues(sp),Ryan,Plourd,etc...I thought we could compete with almost anyone man for man. That was the days when my high school... Philomath high school was a powerhouse too. Fun times... Im hoping coach Pendleton and staff can develop relationships with the top instate kids and land our share. For gosh sakes, osu is the only NW school who has wrestling at division 1 level. Not uo,not UW,WSU,etc. Some kids will want to stay home.

Yeah we absolutely need CP and staff to do some repair locally. By all accounts it seems like they are off to a solid start, granted it's pretty limited due to COVID and no actual HS wrestling! I probably mentioned this a while back on another thread - my oldest wrestled juco and NAIA up until this season. The running joke with he and his teammates was that OSU was where great HS careers went to die - development stalled out, kids who were absolute hammers for 4 years stopped wrestling aggressively, etc. He also went to a couple OSU camps and clinics in high school that were a disaster. Roberts was playing on his phone the whole time, members of the team were half-heartedly leading drills. was just a small glimpse, but it sure felt like every single person was just going through the motions at the time and no one wanted to be there. Was really disappointing. Glad we've got a new crew running the show.

Complacency...sadly the last regime lasted way too long. Coach Pendleton has to dig out of a hole. In a couple years,I think we will have a roster that we will be proud of,and very competitive.

Recruiting is already off the charts compared to what I have tracked the last 15 years. We'd never have this many in and also for future classes. Case being we have 14 committed or signed for next season's class. Amazing. Not sure how much scholy $ is left, can't be too much.
I like it when kids test the waters in the midwest, then find their way back. Our most successful one in the Z era being Colby Covington. A Beav fan mentioned Sean Harmon is a good wrestler, but down the depth chart on a top 5 Mizzou squad. He's from West Linn, would he want to come back home? I believe he took out Beisley our 174 in the dual meet or an extra match. Also wondering if Legend Lamer misses his old bed and his mom's cooking? Transfer he and the Lamers could have 3 D1 wrestlers at three separate schools :-)
I think we will see a little post season roster action with experienced kids.
