Prep Baseball Report held it's 19th annual "Super-60" Pro Showcase last week in Milwaukee, WI. PBR selects 60 of the top prospects in the country (and Canada), and puts them on display for the scouting community over a 3-day period.
Drills, testing and games are on the dockett. With the use of tecnology (Trackman, K-Vests, Edgertronic, Rapsodo, Blast Motion, and more), data is gathered and players are ranked in skill catagories like how fast the ball is leaving the bat - Exit Velo, a lazer timed 60 yard dash metric, and throwing velocities of catchers, infielders, and outfielders.
A first look priority for scouts is always pitcher velocity or, "the path to the draft" ("Velo gets you drafted. Location gets you to the Show"). This years "Super 60" pitching group had 15 pitchers throw 94.0 mph or better, with 9 of those pitchers throwing 95.0 mph or better.
And who was this years "King of Velo" ?
Why, that would be Oregon State bound Victor Quinn, the Missouri prep BLOWTORCH who registered a 96.59 mph fastball. That's a wee bit below the string of 97's and a 98 touch recently in tournament play. Victor can really bring the heat but still is working to locate it it consistently. I have this notion that Dormand will improve the location while squeezing the velo consistently over 100 mph during Quinn's time at OSU.
This was a good event for Oregon State recruits. Our 227 pound Canadian Fireballer Dominic Hambley showed out and 225 pound Arizona Catcher Tanner Smith put on a power hitting display and showed off his 1.90 catcher "pop time".
These 3 will start their Senior year of prep baseball next month.

>96.59 mph fastball
Wow. And looking at a brief clip of 2 pitches, it's got a little swerve on, which is nice. From June, 2020.
Here's a little longer clip. September, 2020.
