Look at these quotes from the team the last few days:
Logan Ice in the Oregonian:
"I think collectively, one through 35 ... there's not the championship drive for Omaha or Omaha drive that there's been in the past," said Ice, who went 0 for 4. "I think there's a good core. I think there's a collective group that for the most part wants it, wants to get to Omaha, wants to go win a national championship. But what's that saying? You're only as good as your worst player. ... I think it's true. Whatever our worst is, that's what we're going to be."
Andy Jenkins was on the Joe Beaver Show or maybe it was the pregame show last night, and he said something along the lines of "we have some guys that aren't bought in and aren't on the same page."
More Logan Ice:
"Ultimately it comes down to each person being their own leader," Ice said. "If you can't get yourself to tick, maybe it's not the right sport for you. But sometimes you're not going to have your best stuff. Sometimes you're not going to swing the bat the way you want to swing it. But to just flat out just surrender, give up, not compete, it's something we got to figure out."
Now, I understand Logan Ice is our best hitter, but that's a tough thing for teammates to hear from a guy who went 2-16 in the last four games, including striking out with the bases loaded in the seventh and grounding into a double play to end Saturday's game vs. Arizona.
The last time I remember hearing stuff like this was the Stefen Romero/Adelberto Santos team that really underachieved. There was lots of grumbling about guys playing for stats and draft position with that team.
