Matt was promoted up to the regular team for the last regular game of the season and I have not seen that he was put back on the practice squad, however the rosters that I have seen on the web does not list him on their depth charts. Hopefully with Mahomes injury they will promote him to the regular team for the next game.

The next day, Matt Moore was sent back to the practice squad. To my knowledge, the Chiefs have not made any moves ahead of the AFC Championship Game. From everything that I have heard, there have been no hiccups in bringing Mahomes along. If there is, expect Moore to be be promoted to the active roster.

I would think that they will bring him up even if Mahomes plays. If Henke gets hurt or is ineffective they need a 3rd QB. I have been watching the Chiefs' transactions and saw where they promoted him before their final game in week 17, but I didn't see where they sent him back to the practice squad. The media has been completely mute on Matt despite what he accomplished for them last year. I was very surprised and disappointed in the Chiefs that they put Henne as their backup after what Matt accomplished the previous year. Several writers stated that Matt's performance was a key factor in the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl because they received a bye and had to play one less game.

In 1952, #1 Michigan State came to Portland to play Oregon State. The Spartans were on a 16-game winning streak and the defending national champion. Michigan State jumped out to a 14-0 first half lead. Late in the third quarter, the Beavers got the ball at the Spartan 40. Jim Withrow hit Bill Storey for 20 and Bill Johnson for 19. Two plays later, Ken Brow ran in for the touchdown. 14-7 Michigan State. On the last play of the third quarter, All-American Don McAuliffe, who finished eighth for the Heisman, fumbled and Ron Siegrist recovered at the Spartan 44. Withrow scored on a second touchdown pass to knot up the game at 14-14 with 13:30 left. The Spartans drove down to attempt a 25-yard field goal with 4:33 left but missed wide. Oregon State failed to make a yard, and All-Coast and future All-Pro Sam Baker punted to pin the Spartans at their own 33 with 3:01 left. Michigan State drove down to the 14 with seven seconds left. The Spartans lined up for and missed a 30-yard field goal with two seconds left. However, the Beavers were flagged as being offsides, so Michigan State got a second chance. The Spartans kicked a 25-yard field goal with no time left for a 17-14 victory. Michigan State would go on to win 27 consecutive games and the 1952 national championship. The three-point win was Michigan State's closest win in the streak. At season's end, the Spartans were invited to join the Big Nine to create the Big Ten (back when things made sense). Michigan State would go on to win the Rose Bowl in 1954 and 1956 (Morrall's senior year). In 1953, Purdue snapped Michigan State's 27-game winning streak, a ginned up Spartan team trounced the Baker-less Beavers 34-6 in East Lansing on Halloween. Morrall was the second pick in the draft by the 49ers. Morrall played for four teams in 11 years (including being named a Pro Bowler for the Steelers in 1957) before finding himself behind Fran Tarkenton in 1967. He was traded to the Colts for Butch Wilson and a draft pick. In 1968, after Johnny Unitas was hurt, Morrall started every game, leading the Colts to an NFL Championship and Super Bowl III berth, where he played so poorly that he was replaced by Unitas in the second half. Morrall led the NFL in touchdowns and was the NFL's Most Valuable Player. Two years' later, Unitas started the first two games. Morrall started week three, but Unitas started every other game into Super Bowl V. Up 13-6, Dallas' Doomsday Defense knocked Unitas out of the game in the second quarter. Morrall led the Colts on two fourth quarter scoring drives (a 3-yard touchdown drive and a 13-yard touchdown drive) to win Super Bowl V 16-13. Morrall started every game in 1971 into season before being replaced by Unitas, who led the Colts to the AFC Championship Game, a 21-0 loss. The Colts waived Morrall before the 1972 season, and the Dolphins purchased his rights for $100.00 to back up Bob Griese. Griese started the first four games winning each before being knocked out of the Chargers' game in week five. Morrall took over and won 12 consecutive games, leading the Dolphins to the AFC Championship Game. After struggling, Don Shula replaced Morrall with Griese, who won the AFC Championship and Super Bowl VII. Morrall logged only one start the following year, a loss to the Colts. Morrall remained a Dolphin until 1977 before retiring 15 days short of his 43rd birthday. Morrall's started one game in 1975, a victory over the Patriots. He was 41 years, six months and 16 days old. Morrall was the oldest player to ever quarterback his team to victory. Morrall's record would stand until January 2, 2005, when Doug Flutie broke it. The Chargers were locked into the four-seed and rested Drew Brees in week 17, allowing Flutie to start and win the game. The Chargers would lose to the Jets in the Playoffs in overtime. The Jets would lose to the Steelers in overtime, who lost to the Patriots (on their way to a third Super Bowl victory in four years) by two touchdowns.
