Cameron Brink, 6-4 Freshmen at Stanford (#1 and 3-0), after 3 games off the bench, is the 3rd leading scorer on the team at 11.3ppg, with 6 rebounds per game and 5 total blocks. She was the #3 rated player in the country out of the Beaverton area (3 years at Southridge High and her senior year at new Mountainside High), where she was the three-time 6A Player of the Year. Her parents both played basketball at Virginia Tech, where her mom was the roommate of Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry's mom (a volleyball player), and Cameron's dad was a teammate of Stephen's dad, Dell Curry (retired NBA player). The families are very close as Stephen's parents are Cameron's godparents.

I think she's going to get a lot better, probably fairly soon. I watched both of Stanford's games last weekend. She looked like she rushed a lot of shots. Her length is problematic for opponents. She'll grab a lot of rebounds and swat a lot of shots. I think the score keepers hosed her on blocks, I saw several she didn't get credited for.

Yeah, I was bummed we didn't land her. I remember it felt like we were pretty close on her. Seems like another one of those that got away that could keep us at the top of the Pac.

Yeah, I was bummed we didn't land her. I remember it felt like we were pretty close on her. Seems like another one of those that got away that could keep us at the top of the Pac. We were not even close. I talked to Scott Rueck's parents during the recruiting period and they said 'not a chance to be a Beaver.' |
